I've been there twice. The first time was for the 1988 All-American Bowl. Granted that was 14 years ago, but it didn't seem too bad (hell, they sold beer, maybe that's clouding my judgment).
In January of '98 I was in B'ham for a conference. I was in charge of coordinating photography. I'd hired a local guy who (I didn't know this until I met him) was also in charge of the photo layouts for Lindy's SEC guide. One afternoon during a break in the conference I had him drive me over to Legion Field. He'd shot games there for years and the folks working at the stadium knew him well so we had access to the entire place. I had him take pictures of me all over the stadium.
I know it's in a crappy neighborhood, and T-town is an idle place for college football, but is one game a year at the old war-horse that bad?
Look forward to hearing from you.
