I personally consider Frank Sinatra to be extremely overrated. I mean, I think he had a good voice for the type of songs he was singing but was he a productive, creative musician? I think not. I think of Elvis in the same manner. They mostly had outside songwriters, although Elvis could play piano and guitar and did write a few songs later in his career.
Would anyone agree with me that 'Chuck Berry' is the true 'King OF Rock And Roll' by the way?
Getting back to the argument about older artists not being able to make good albums. I actually think that many retrobands are actually making better albums than the artists that influenced them. Take a hard rock/metal retroband such as 'The Sword' for instance. They are certainly making better albums than 'Judas Priest' and 'Iron Maiden' now. | |
