Isn't it? It's kind of like our very own Groundhog Celebration! People showing up, after a long cold snowy winter, ready to get back on two wheels again. Seeing familiar & new faces, finally putting a face to a board name is fun.
Marlene & I pull up to the chosen Breakfast spot, with almost no place to park! Oooh, this has to be T-H-E place to eat, full of locals, you know it's good! Inside we greet old friends & are introduce to a couple new ones. Talk quickly gets to upcoming planned rides, rallys, newly acquired bikes, & of course the Popcycle. Soon it's time to head over to Dempsey's, the local Pub that is host for the Popcycle.
About noon....Noooo....Precisly, at noon the first rider is off for a tour of Watertown guided by directions on a printed card that Lee has chosen. After about an hour they are back to have the 1st leg scored. It's also time to enjoy some of Dempsey's noon special, Jambalaya & home brewed Root Beer! YUM.....Pretty soon it's time to head out for the afternoon tour.
Lee handed out awards to the top 5. Some were veterans, a couple were noobs! There were 12 riders & all had a good time. Each one of them have a good start toward The Rider of the Year award. With some of the riders acquiring Dual Sport bikes, will they participate in the rest of the upcoming events? The Off Road Poker Run, Bonzai, Buffalo Run, & Harvest Rally. Don't forget the Grand Tour counts too! I heard rumors that a few of them were "Going after" ROTY!
Good Luck to everyone.
Thanks to the GLMC members & volunteers....
