There was mention a few years ago (when gas prices went through the roof) that Flyrite choppers was going to produce a hardtail chopper frame for the Lifan 250 motor - the same one used in the Virago 250. I was really anxious to see that, but I don't think it ever happened. I have seen brand new lifan's go for $500 on eBay, and that could make a nice little commuter bike with a hardtail frame. I know my wife's V250 gets almost 90 mpg, and if you put that motor into a hardtail frame you could easily shave 30 pounds of weight off that bike.
I still think I'm going to end up selling the 250 in a few years, mainly because I want my wife to get something bigger that can keep up on the highway. The 250 is a great "learner" bike, but it's not safe to take out on the highway at all. I will probably end up with a Triumph or Sportster for her.
