I had met Curt at my 1st rally, the 2007 GLMC Harvest Rally, he was sitting at a table telling about his ride in the 2007 IBR. A year later I was at the 2008 IBA National convention in Tulsa. Curt, along with others had a tables set up outside. Some were showing how to connect farkles, plug or patch tires. Curt's table was "Electrical Connections" I was standing watching his presentation, at the end, he looked at me & said "didn't I meet you at the Harvest Rally" I looked around to see who he was talking to...no one around but me. I looked back & he stuck his hand out, said I'm Curt Gran. Soon we began to talk about routing for rallies & he grabbed his laptop & started showing how he used different mapping programs. At the end,he asked for my e-dress he sent a tutorial on how to use S&T for ralling. Since then we've met at different places across the country. He's usually giving advise or showing someone how to do something.
A couple years ago I asked Curt if he would be willing to put on a S&T seminar, there was no hesitation he said sure. About that time was when electronic bonus locations were starting & the MN 2010 & IB 5000 were going to be using the new format. Curt & Derek had developed a program ezbake, that would make it easier & faster to get locations on a mapping program. That seminar was held in MPLS. He was humbled when we took a collection & gave it to him.
A few weeks ago Curt mailed me, said he would like to dontate one of his Fuzeblocks as a prize for the Grand Tour. My last conversation with him was this past Friday evening, thanking him for his generosity of the prize & him saying he would get it in the mail.
I still cannot believe my friend is gone, I miss him already.
Our heart goes out to Cindy, their families & all of those who knew Curt.
