Congrats to Derek for a impressive ride and being so efficient at route planning that he sent his completely dejected novice roommate out to his bike with a wonderfully amusing attitude for the volunteers to observe! He did have a smile on his face by the time he got back and won Novice, so TriggerT, one more time, welcome to expert!
It was a tight race for the top spot and it all came down to one bonus for Curt. The gas pump at Botham Vineyards was worth 335 points. The packet said:

Note the comment in parenthesis, "NOT INSIDE THE ACTUAL STORE." We added that remark as this is actually the 2nd year in a row we used this exact pump as a bonus. Last year everyone went inside and got one of two pumps inside the store. Saturday night I overhear Curt talking about that pump and how the correct one was actually in the corner of the store, not the shell one in the center of the store. I did chime in and tell him, actually, neither one of those is the one we were looking for. Well it must not have sunk in as Curt found the wrong pump again and lost the 335 points. Had he got the correct pump, Curt would have beat Derek by 10 points. Funny thing is, one rider told me after they actually did get the correct pump, that the girl running the register told them congratulations, you are the 1st one to get the correct pump. Turns out the girl running the register was the same one Chris and I had talked to about this a few weeks back and she was watching everyone write down the wrong one!
Why is it always fun to tell stories of Curt loosing points at the table?
Thanks everyone for coming, although my bike didn't leave the hotel on Sunday I still had a blast hanging out with all of you, and watching the radar while you were all out thinking boy that must suck, Mwahaha. Looking forward to next year and the return of Bill as the rally bastard.
