I started on a beat up CB750. It's not the easiest bike to learn to ride. Old guy saw me out on it once and asked me what I learned on. I pointed at that very same bike. He laughed and said.. "Then you'll be able to ride anything!"
I just figured you had already taken it into account. Even if you get her into the MSF, she'll likely want a bike to ride around. And it's good to get on different styles of bikes. Too many people get into a rut with 1 bike early on in my opinion. I rode 7 distictly different style bikes in my first 2 years.
