Hi, I've been shooting PPC for nearly twelve years and my team name is the Halawa Bad Boys Shooting Team. We're a collection of correctional officers and deputy sheriff's from Hawaii. Contrary to an article from a newspaper in Oregon , we are just a few officers that use the sport of shooting along with golf , softball, football, bowling and even darts as a recreation to get our mines away from the daily hassle at work.
The Halawa Bad Boys Shooting Team recently lost its founder, Buster F. Ahlo. Buster was a captain at the Halawa Correctional Facility and was considered the best Shooter in Hawaii Corrections and one of the best in the state Law Enforcement Community.
The Halawa Bad Boys Shooting Team was founded in in 1989, when Buster got seven officers along with himself, me included to go to a shooting match on the island of Kauai. The Match was called the "Kauai Police Department Annual State of Hawaii Law Enforcement Pistol Tournament". Needles to say, we had a great time. We had such a great time that the following year we took a team of 18 to Kauai and its been like that ever snce. This year the Kauai Tournament is hosting its 17th Annual and we will be attending.
As a memorial to Captain Buster Ahlo, the Halawa Bad Boys Shooting Team are working to put on a match in his memory. The match will be called "The Halawa Bad Boys Shooting Teams Annual Buster F. Ahlo Memorial Shootout". We have just concluded our first fundraiser to raise monies to help with the cost and we are working on the next fundraiser already. A date has not been set, as we are talking with the range coordinator to agree on a date sometime in the middle of next year.
We welcome any advice that you may have with regards to putting on a match and we will keep you up to date as to the match date itself, Aloha and Mahalo.
