Please keep in mind that a Distinguished Semi Auto gun must be a "Factory Manufactured (catalog item)". That does not eliminate custom guns, like Springfield and Baer, but you cannot got to the guy down the street, and have him build you one. A few years ago at NPSC, there were some shooters who could not get their 5" guns past the Refs. Also the 2010 rules changes seem to fit a 5" Distunguished gun into the Stock Semi Auto catagory. Do not expect this change to survive past this year. I expect the NRA to rewrite the rule to forbid Aristocrat three posistion style sights on Stock guns. The rule change was intended to allow factory installed adjustable sights (combat style) on Stock Semi Autos, not Competition sights. This will be a tough line to draw, and be fair to all manufacturers. The rules were intended to include the extremely popular Glock pistols into the fray, because so many Departments issue them, and lets face it, if you want to get in cheap, they are easy to obtain, and easy to get your money out of when you decide to get a real gun (Hehehe.)
