My S&W 686 likes the 100gr SWC with 2.6gr of Trail Boss for 50 yards with the projectile pushed down 3.3mm from the case mouth, I use Federal Brass but others use the same load with Starline in 38 special. I can ( resting prone with a sandbag ) group <2" with a stock barrel + single action which is very decent for a stock revolver. Never had any joy using HBWC in any weight, seemed to always be tipping with some key holing badly. I still think the HBWC like a twist rate of 1:12 or less to stabilize around 800 fps, the 1:18 & 3/4 twist of most S&W revolvers need you to push the HBWC faster that 850 to stabilize which leads to leading which leads to inaccuracy.
