A quick question: is it illegal (per PPC rules) to remove the hammer block on the OPEN revolver? Thanks, ken

It is illegal. While the ref's don't check every Open Revolver they do have spot inspections. Any S&W revolver, for any match, missing the hammer block will be DQ'ed. I believe you have the opportunity to replace it and have the gun OK'ed, but only if you have not fired a round on that match. I have never felt the need to remove the hammer block. A properly fitted one will not affect the action.
