Well we did it. Pioneer Gun Club has received OFFICIAL NRA SANCTION for 6 Civilian 1500 PPC matches this summer. Dates are 4/28, 5/26,6/23,7/28,8/25,and 9/22/2012. Our matches will be fired concurrently with our sanctioned LE 1500's (ie shoulder-to-shoulder with the cops like we have always done) except now our scores will count for something and our shooters can receive a classification card from the NRA. Rules for the Civilian 1500 will be the same as LE 1500's (this has been approved by NRA and is incorporated in the match bulletin) except that Action Pistol classifications and eligibility rules will apply to Civilians. Separate results will be posted for LE and Civilians. We will shoot a sanctioned 1500 (LE and Civilian), a sanction Duty gun match (LE sanction only, Civilians may participate), and a NON-sanctioned Distinguish gun match for both.
Folks, this is our opportunity to show NRA, and others, that Civilians are interested in this form of shooting and willing to participate in events. If you cannot join us in Kansas City for the matches, I surely hope that other clubs around the country join in and start their own events.
If you want more info, you can do it through this forum or my email

Lots of things are different (according to the AP rules) like issues involving size of the barricade, use of gloves, how "sliders" are treated, gun on the ground, etc. Time limits are the same for the civilian 1500 COF - the PPC COF in the old AP rules has considerably shorter time frame for the event. Suitably confused now ??? Anyway, NRA has approved our events using all LE rules - we will shoot LE and Civilians together. Our civilian shooters will however be classified by NRA under AP rules. ken
