I thought you all would like to see this. I guess its the earliest known baseball footage or earliest surviving footage, although I could be wrong.

Kind of off topic, but some of you collect boxing cards. This is part of the 1897 fight bewtween Jim Cotbett and Bob Fitzimmons. I thought this was old, but the earliest surviving footage in general is from 1888. Just think, old judge cards were new back then !

Does anyone know where Edison filmed that? The second runner in the film has "Newark" on his uniform. Given that Edison's lab complex was in West Orange, I will guess that it was filmed around Essex County, NJ. Any clues as to league?

According to a bunch of net searches...the teams portrayed in the Edison film were two local amateur teams from Newark.
