With the first of the 2008 Series Texas Hold'em Tournament only hours away, there is still time to register and join the fun. Registered players have now filled two tables and will soon be starting on the third. Please review the tournament description at www.oldcardboard.com/misc/poker/poker.asp for info on signing up with PokerStars, an overview of the Old Cardboard bonus awards, and more.
Any final questions, please contact Steve Murray (jacklitsch@comcast.net) or myself (editor@oldcardboard.com) or call me at 512-231-9594.
Good luck to all,

I did my best to try to keep it together, but, in the end, I am not a good online player. Who won it? BTW, This was the most fun I had for ten bucks sinse I was a kid! I hope this will take place on a regular basis.
I was severely short stacked and in the small blind, picked up AA, 1st 2 players fold I go all in with about 1600 chips, big blind folds and I end up with about 2,600 still way short stacked, no action at all with the monster pair.
Next hand on the button KK, I mean how much better cards could I get, 1st player(jeff) folds, I again throw em all in, small blind gets out, Brett call with A6 of hearts and hits the flush against my 3 K's as i picked up a third one on the river. Had me talking to myself that's for sure.
I played it the only way I could with the best 2 hands in Hold'em, just wasn't in the cards.
Had a ton of fun and it went pretty quick. The entire tourney lasted a little over 2 1/2 hours.
We got off to a great start with the 2008 Texas Hold'em tourney last evening.
A total of 26 vintage baseball card collectors participated in the shootout. Jason Barden (TheKidNYC) was the last player standing, riding into the sunset with the $130 top prize. Jeff Prizner (bicem20) took 2nd place honors and $78. Our own Brett Hardeman (BrettHardemn) walked away with 3rd and $52.
I will prepare and upload a more detailed post-game wrap-up to the Old Cardboard website in the next day or two at http://www.oldcardboard.com/misc/poker/2008/tourney01-results.asp. I will also update the Leaderboard for those who scored points toward the Old Cardboard bonus awards for the 2008 season.
Next tourney will be held Tuesday, February 26 at 7:30 Texas time (CST). The 2nd tournament (Old Cardboard #2) has now been set up with PokerStars as Tourney Number 74854086 (password for registration is e107e107). Early registration is encouraged to avoid any last minute misfires in registration or funding. Players can always "unregister" if a schedule conflict comes up.
Thanks again to all for making our first tourney a great time for everyone.
Lyman
PS: Larry Ordet, sorry about the pocket 66's.
Edited to correct link; someday I'll learn to get it right the first time. LJH

I had fun even though I had a bad beat to hit the rail at 15th place...All in pre-flop with AK suited against AJ unsuited. I pick up a K on flop and then player who busted me hits four running clubs to have the nut flush...ergh! Lots of fun and I encourage others to play. I was really rusty though...I plan to be better in Feb.
So, explain this tourney again?? There are points to be had and this is a series? I thought it was just a crap shoot being done once in awile. I will need to change my play if this is an ongoing thing.
JC, is that the best excuse you have for placing 18th in last night's tourney? Give me a break; I know you can come up with something much better than that? Perhaps you should let Tammy take your spot at the next tourney!
The detailed results and Leaderboard Update for Old Cardboard's 2008 Texas Hold'em Tournament #1 are now posted at http://www.oldcardboard.com/misc/poker/poker.asp. Thanks again to all who participated. We look forward to seeing you at next month's tournament.
