Real Wagner ?

A friend has a Honus Wagner, no idea where he got it from, but it has a stamp on the back that looks like it says OCT 16 1909. Could this be real ?

it's really impossible to determine from the scans shown but it looks like a fake front glued to a real back...like those clowns on tv way back when!

Don't you think somebody could have stamped it any date they wanted to 10 years ago or whenever.

What's stopping me from stamping something today "1909"?

Obviously it is hard to tell from the photo, but the front does not look real. It looks like most reprints in that it does not have the brown line boarder between the orange and the white border. As mentioned, it could be that a real back was pasted to a fake front.

Most stories that begin with "My friend has a Wagner t206 (worth hundreds of thousands of dollars) but he has no idea where he got it from..." do not end very well. Card looks bad. Story sounds bad. Sure this is a friend?
