Fake Chuck Klein?

My friend just came back from Portland, where he bought a '39 Play Ball Chuck Klein. Here in Seattle, we were having a coffee, looking at our new old cards, and we noticed that his Klein doesn't match any of our other '39 Play Ball cards, even my Klein. On the back of his, none of the text is italicized, making it a mismatch with the other cards.

Think it's phony?

#82 Klein is one of many cards between #2 and #115 that can be found with back variations in font and details in the bio (Name in all caps, or in upper and lower case, etc.).

Hey, thanks for the quick response. It seems a modicum of research (prior to posting my question) was in order.

I know SCD doesn't make any value differentiation but has anyone ever done research as to the scarcity of the back variations and/or why they exist?
