Beckett Media is reaching out to your community to offer a complimentary issue of our Graded Card Investor magazine with a Net 54 “Member Only” subscription offer to the first 500 people that respond to the link at the bottom of this letter.
Thanks to Leon for allowing us the opportunity to showcase what we feel is a magazine that can provide great entertainment and information to all card collectors.
Beckett GCI is a bi-monthly, multi-sport magazine that covers the market for professionally graded baseball, basketball, football, golf, hockey and racing cards from 1887 to present.
With more than 130 pages of pricing, Beckett Graded Card Investor offers the most comprehensive package of market information available in print. Up to six columns of pricing (in the conditions applicable to the material) is provided for each listing. All major sources for transactions, including eBay and the big auction houses, are closely monitored and reported in detail.
Rather than attempt to provide theoretical values for particularly scarce material, GCI utilizes a unique combination of column-based grid pricing (for more widely available material) with historical sales references (for rarities). Each issue, the grid pricing is reviewed and updated and the historical sales references are appended to provide the reader with the finest source of information available in print.
GCI also digs deep into the world of commons and minor stars to report the cards with low populations within the major grading company census reports with values that defy their potentially overlooked status.
Now approaching its sixth issue, scheduled to release the first week of June, the staff at GCI is hard at work adding a six-page section for the burgeoning area of vintage Non-Sport cards. In particular, we’ll be focusing on the sets from 1933 to 1985 that are most commonly submitted for professional grading including 1933 Indian Gum, 1938 Horrors of War, 1952 Look ‘n See, 1959 Three Stooges, 1962 Civil War News and 1962 Mars Attacks.
Issue No. 6 will also include a cover feature on the early cards of Mickey Mantle. Population data, in-depth pricing, distribution information and full color images will be provided for 22 of The Mick’s mainstream and regional issues released between 1951 and 1956.
The editorial package for past issues of GCI has included interview with industry heavyweights like Robert Lifson of Robert Edward Auctions and Doug Allen of Mastro Auctions in addition to big names in the grading field including Joe Orlando of PSA and Sean Skeffington of SGC. Contributing authors have included Lyman Hardeman of Old Cardboard penning articles on the E107 set and the M101-4 and M101-5 Babe Ruth Rookie Cards. Our own staff, each issue, provides a review of the top selling cards of the past two months for baseball, basketball, football and hockey in addition to in-depth articles crunching the numbers on popular sets like ’54-55 Topps hockey and 1971 Topps baseball. Even newer cards are covered with in-depth pricing information on BGS Pristine cards and the slew of red-hot up-and-comers across all of the major sports.
It’s our goal to continue growing by reaching out to all of the collecting communities that compose our beloved hobby. We hope you enjoy the complimentary issue of Beckett Graded Card Investor and we look forward to your feedback.
The Net 54 boards are a treasure trove of riches when it comes to the knowledge and expertise available from the community. Many of you set the benchmark for what there is to know about the sets and cards you collect. GCI and its staff can benefit greatly from your feedback and suggestions. I’ll be available on these boards to review any questions or comments and take in suggestions for stories and/or pricing input.
Thanks,
Grant Sandground

Hey guys and girls (Net54'ers),
I have been discussing this for a while with the Beckett folks. I have read all of their GCI magazines and their Elite magazine (recently). They have some good articles in them too. There is very good actual data in print from real sales and they seem to be doing a nice job. A few esoteric prices were off (had all T204 HOF'ers very closely priced...which we know Plank and Burkett will sell higher, Johnson was already priced higher of course). They are looking for feedback so when you get your copy and peruse it, let them know what you think. Thanks again (to them) for their hospitality in showing me their full operations. I even met their CEO yesterday. I have done a few walk thrus at their facility in the last month and it's really a fairly big operation. It's the real deal. ....... regards
When I tried to subscribe the buttons for which type of subscription you want were grayed out and would not take input. So when I went to complete there was no order. Tried a few times and cleared my cache as well.
Jeff - same here; I completed the order anyway, as I'm guessing that is the desired behavior - the options was only to select US or Canada, which you specify anyway when you give them your address.
Hello everyone, and thank you for trying to get a free copy. I just went through the process and everything should work out for you. All you should have to do is select "bill me later" and you will make it through.
Please let me know if you continue to have any problems, and thanks again for trying us out.
i'd like the back issues and the freebie, but i cannot fully load my shipping address and your website is requesting a credit card (which will be fine for the back issues and any subscription going forward).
is there a ph# i can call or can someone from your office email.
thanks in advance!
andy becker
btw, i did the "bill me later" and that didn't work either.....

I am so sorry that this didn't work out as well as i had hoped. Everything should be fixed now. Please let me know if you have any problems, and thanks for your patience.
I would like to put in another plug for this magazine--I have never read an article but they put a lot of work into the prices for their cards--much more than the Sportscard Market Report. Each card has a price--not just a price for commons. If a card has not traded in that grade, then it is left blank.
The "$24.99 billing later" is if you subscribe AFTER the initial free offer. I went over this yesterday with the Beckett guys. If you do nothing then you will get no more issues and be ok....it's not like Columbia House where you will receive music cd's the rest of your life and there is no way to cancel unless you go to Congress and get a bill passed to unsubscribe......Of course they hope you like it and subscribe but don't worry about getting things you don't want. That's a pet peeve of mine.......regards
I wanted to post a quick note to let you know that you will recieve the magazines around the first week of June. We are actually going to give you a copy of GCI, some grading coupons, and a copy of Beckett Elite.
It should be a nice little package full of goodies. After you receive everything we are hoping that you will let us know what you think.
Thanks for your time and consideration, and I look forward to hearing all of the comments.

hang in there.....if they hit the 500 limit (and I can't believe they would have already) I will get you one..."Moderatorship" has it's privileges.....
Jim - You actually mark that $24.99 1 year subscription, then mark "Bill Me Later", and that will get you the free copy. Should you then choose to subscribe, you can pay the invoice; otherwise, you just get the free issue.
Thanks again,
Mark Anderson

Are you guys trying to tell me that Columbia House is a scam? I've been a proud member since 1991 when I started college. I get 12 VHS & Beta movies a month. It's great! Now if they only carried 8-track music I could ditch my antiquated I-Pod.
My apologies for a belated entry into this string . . . just wanted to thank everyone for their patience with the technical snafus we had earlier in the day. Brandon, Mark and I are excited to get this complimentary copy of Graded Card Investor magazine to you and we hope you enjoy it. We look forward to your feedback!
I bought their very first copy of this magazine. It was in the Borders bookstore here in Santa Barbara. I hadn't looked at a Beckett probably since 1988. I really enjoyed it and I noticed they even have some strip cards listed in the price guide. Then I kept looking for the new issue and I never saw a new one. I am glad it is back. Looking forward in receiving it!
Well I just went through the process, and got to the bill me later spot...
But I can't click that last part. By doing so I'm asking Beckett to send me 6 issues for $24.99 and to bill me later. And that is not my intent, notwithstanding what assurances are made here.
I'd like to see what it was for free. But the idea of saying bill me later $24.99 then me refusing to pay doesn't sound like the right way to do business.
Brandon, I'd like to see what it was, and I'll email my address to you if you want it.
Thanks Leon and Beckett for the free issue. I have been wanting to check it out for sometime now, but my two local shops i attend, do not carry it. So thanks again, looking forward to the issue.
Well I think that we were able to get through our first day hurdles pretty well, and it looks like a large number of you have taken us up on this offer. I would like to thank all of you on this board for your support, and I hope that you tell your friends about this offer. I will be available on this board, and through email if anyone has any questions.
Thanks again, and we look forward to your suggestions, and comments. (no one is allowed to say anything bad though...kidding).
I sent you an email this morning, and I thought that I should make a post here as well. For legal reasons we have to provide this offer with the "bill me later" option, but once you receive your free copy you will not be obligated to pay for the rest of the subscription if you don't want to.
I know that the way it is worded, it looks like we are trying to pull a fast one, but I assure you we are not. Thank you so much for your interest, and please let me know if you (or anyone else) has any other questions.
I wanted to make a quick post to let everyone know that our give away has been going great and that there are still a few free issues that can be claimed. Thank you goes out to everyone who has already taken us up on the offer, and your magazines will be mailed out to you in just a few weeks.
Please let me know via email, or posting to this thread, if you have any questions about this offer, or any of our other magazines. Thanks again, and I'm looking forward to meeting a few of you at the Nationals.
First rounds on me (these are still free aren't they Leon)

I have read almost all the issues and they are great. The prices are a lot more close to actual prices, and they list lowe grades instead of just 5 or better like SMR.
I have enjoyed every issue and for the sets I collect I think the prices are either right on o
