1-of-1's - Show Your Unique Cards July 10 2008 at 4:22 PM
T206Collector
(Login T206Collector ) One of the cool things about collecting autographed pre-war cards is that they are extremely rare, and may, in fact, be totally unique. These cards and the Cy Young super overprint that just sold on ebay got me thinking -- what other pre-war cards are totally unique, i.e., only 1 known example (or at least under a small handful).
Just one rule -- no cards that are unique solely by virtue of their grade by a third party grading company (e.g., highest graded T206 Unglaub doesn't count). What I am looking for here are cards that completely transcend grade because of scarcity.
Here's what I think is probably my rarest card -- a dual-signed T201:

That Phillippe/Engle card is awesome.
fkw
(Login fkw ) One of my favorites July 10 2008, 5:03 PM
ca.1920 Cuban Babe Ruth
The story behind this card is it was found tucked into an old Spalding Guide that was formally owned by the premier Cuban baseball historian and author, Severo Nieto. Originally sold at auction on Ryan Christoff's cubanbaseballcards.com site in Nov. 2005. The card measures roughly 2.5" by 3.75" and the stock is thick.

(Login ChiSoxFan ) T206 Question... July 11 2008, 3:58 PM
What great cards everyone has.
However I do have a question.
It was my understanding the T206 "sheets" and the same subject in a column, like Jeff's T206 Cobb...
And not like J Hull's T206 Phillippe...
Can someone clear this up?
Thanks,
ChiSoxFan

in some cases it was the same player vertically, and in other cases it was different players vertically...

But good luck finding one of these with a baseball player on the front. I'll consider mine to be 1 of 2, with a polite and deferential nod to Richard.
