awesome...I've been toying with putting my collection "back" in sheets like they used to be when I was a kid. But with the diverse size of many cards in my collection it seems like it'd be a pain in the butt!
Darren, that looks great! Where is a good place to pick up a handful of those t206-sized sheets? I don't have many T206s but wouldn't mind putting them in sheets!
looks great! i started doing the same thing months back...looks & feels very "pure" and old school, as you said.
to answer the question above...the best is "Ultra Pro", 15 pocket sheets made specifically for tobacco cards. they are UV safe. i got mine at a card shop in brooklyn, i called the guy and he shipped me a box of 100 pages. you can also get them at almost any card show.
Darren, I have done the same thing. They are much more fun to play with when they are in a binder. I still have my Cobb's and Elberfeld in slabs but I am thinking seriously about breaking them out. I have done the same thing with my T205's. I use the 10 card pages and the albums from England that were discussed on the board a while back.
That is a wonderful sight. Thanks!!! Get inspired, guys. Get out your slab-bustin' hammers and your 15 pocket sheets!
That is how mine were, one step back. And that is how I liked them the most. Currently, they reside in a small box, in stacks. That fits in a safety deposit box much more cost effectively.
Yea, those T206s look awesome all bunched together like that. I just got my first 2 RAW T206s this past week. I am starting a raw T206 set to display in binders/sheets so I don't have to drag out my graded stacks.
I didn't crack out anything higher than a 4 unless it was in a GAI or SCD holder. Also working on a HOFer and star set in 5+-I don't plan cracking those out.
It is useful for studying purposes, having the subjects side by side in alphabetical order does shed some light on T206 mysteries. I'm certain another set by series will be even more educational.
I have all my T206 sets arranged by the Series (150, 350, 460). In alphabetical order
within those Series. I find this arrangement provides me a greater appreciation of how
this set was designed.
I usually crack out every card, except "5's & 6's", that I eventually expect to replace
with Vg-Ex cards. Then I can trade or sell the nicer Graded cards.
I didn't realize I was old school. My set is mostly in the 15 per page sheets too. I must admit though, I sent in most of the HOFs to be graded just a couple of months ago. I replaced their spaces in the binder with reprints.

It is a learning experience. You can visually understand which
teams had more cards. Highly recommended, that is how mine are
now.
Within the team, sort alphabetically by player's last name.
And for players with multiple cards, sort by series. That way
you can see how the card style changed, going from 'Cubs' across
the shirt to 'Chicago' down the shirt.
Definitely by team. That is how the old guys did it. I think they
were right. Dr. Beckett's numbers were popular, and that got us all
fouled up.
I was recently inspired by Ted's post "AFFORDABLE T206 sub-sets you can COMPLETE", so I took the leap from PSA to raw in order to work on an all Polar Bear set. Twelve down, 240 to go! (I too am using the Ultra-Pro 15 Pocket Sheets - they are readily available on eBay.)
I have recently started a low grade T205 set. I buy them raw, or crack them out when I get them. It has been so much more fun and rewarding than my attempt at slabbed T206's. I am at about 120/220 in less than 2 months. Sorting them by team seems to work well. There is nothing like getting a good sized lot in the mail and sliding them into their respective slots.
You can get the 15 pocket pages at any Ultra-Pro supplier. Even if you do it on-line, look for one closer to where you live to save shipping. I've ordered from 2 Buds (the2buds.com) and I've used NW Card Supplies (nwcardsupplies.com). (I know. Neither is really close to Dallas, but both give great service.)
Or... if you want a little more protection for your cards, use these:
These are mini toploaders designed for tobacco cards. They come 10 to a package (about $1.25-1.50 per package) and each package includes 10 toploaders and 10 plastic sleeves. Once the cards are in this toploader, you can put the entire toploader into the standard 9-pocket page.
