A little help on T206 Piedmont Factory 42

Hello all,
I just inked a deal that is bringing 13 Piedmont Factory 42 T206 cards to my door in the morning. Keeping my fingers crossed that they are real!
Does any one have a good place I can research these, or have any information to share here? I haven't been able to find out much looking online, other than that they are on the rare side of the T206 backs list, but don't command as large a premium as some of the others in the scarcity range. As always, thanks for the help, and here is a sneak peak at the cards that are coming. These little fellas are pretty rough, but the Chase looks like a money maker!

Thanks Ted

As always great information. I am pretty sure you all saw these on ebay a few weeks ago, but just missed the 42's on the backs. I am going to send these in for grading and will post in the BST section to recover some of the funds and continue one poor man's quest to do a 16 back VG HOFer and notable player (for the expensive ones) group. Still keeping my fingers crossed!

Ted, I was sure

I updated your list last time you posted it.

I can definitively confirm Doolan batting and McQuillan batting for T-206 Piedmont Factory 42. I have not yet been able to confirm Magee batting, although Sherry should be theoretically possible.

Hi Ted,

I have seen Chance (Yellow) with Piedmont 42 on eBay. No doubt he exists.

Not surprising that none of the cards in this "find" are 460-only [except Kleinow (Boston) which of course is really a 350/460 RP subject that does not have any 350 backs]. Piedmont 42s are about 10X more difficult to find on 460-only subjects. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Chase (Trophy), Latham, Schaefer and Oldring (Batting) are the only 460-only subjects confirmed with Piedmont 42.

Scot

They're here

July 31 2008, 8:47 PM

They are on the rough side, but a pretty nice little lot. The Chase and Snodgrass are the lookers of the group (maybe EX). The rest should be most 1's, 2's and maybe a couple 3's. I am going to put the roughest Chance on the BST this evening an offer up the Doolan to a board member, the rest off for grading.
Thanks for the help guys. Does anyone have any historical information that I could read about these?
Thanks,
Bob

Ted,

Thanks for the list.

I was unaware of Devore, Murray (Portrait With Cap) and Overall (Hands at Waist) with Piedmont 42.

Smith (Chicago & Boston), like Klenow (Boston), is a special case.

With regard to Wiltse, do you mean Portrait With Cap?

I have a Wiltse with cap and a Latham with Piedmont 42. These are both 460 cards and do come with factory 42 Piedmont. I can post scans if needed.

Thanks for catching my error on Wiltse....it's corrected.

DEVORE was reported by Mike Wheat

MURRAY was reported by Dave Whipple

OVERALL was reported by Brian Weisner

If this is all that there is from the 460-only gang, what do you make of it ?

Best regards,

TED Z

Re: A little help on T206 Piedmont Factory 42

Hi Ted,

Some food for thought.

Setting aside Kleinow and Smith, of the 33 UZITS in the 2006 REA auction, the following EIGHT were 460-only subjects:

Chase (Trophy)
Latham
Marquard (Follow Through)
Merkle (Throwing)
Schaefer (Washington)
Schlei (Batting)
Seymour (Portrait)
Wiltse (Portrait Cap)

Let's compare this with our list of SEVEN confirmed PIEDMONT 42 460-only subjects:

Chase (Trophy)
Devore
Latham
Murray (Portrait Cap)
Overall (Hands at Waist)
Schaefer (Washington)
Wiltse (Portrait Cap)

Note that four of the 460-only subjects (Chase, Latham, Schaefer and Wiltse) are confirmed with BOTH of these backs, whereas 35 of the 460-only subjects are evident with NEITHER of these backs.

Note also that most 350/460 RP and SP subjects appear with BOTH of these backs.

Is it possible, then, that Piedmont 42 and Uzit were printed with a common set of subjects?

Scot

P.S. Adam--I believe Bradley (Batting) is a 350/460 regular print subject.
