a card you really wanted for years?

Ok all of you card addicts out there. Has there ever been a card you wanted for years and then it came up for sale in auction? Except for 1 picture of 1 Fergusons D381, with coupon, I had never seen another card with the coupon on it until 2 of them on ebay. Scott Gaynor had 2 of them up (yrs ago)and my snipes were about 4x of the prices going into the final minute. I got out sniped on both. I had haggled with the consignor ever since he won them but we never came to an agreement. He wanted considerably more than this went for the other night. He said he had also spoken with Larry Fritsch (RIP) and Larry didn't have any Ferguson's with tabs...and he was a big D381 collector. I was hoping to get this D381 Ferguson Bakery for a heck of a good price but lo and behold it went for about what it did when I got out sniped on it years ago on ebay. Unless someone got really, really crazy I was adding it to my collection. Anyone else finally get a shot at one they had wanted for years?....Also, this is a good comparison of the 1 line of Fergusons caption versus the 2 lines on the Fleischmanns. Finally I can add this one to my collection.....best regards.. your happy collector...

Congratulations. Just curious, have you ever seen any of the "beautiful felt pillow tops" for which fifty of the coupons would be exchanged?

Simply an awesome pick up Leon. May I borrow the image to show an oldtimer friend of mine who has never seen one and doesn't have a computer? Many Thanks, Dan.

For years there was a Zeenut that I've always wanted. I'd rarely see it come up for sale/auction. When it did come up it usually commanded a decent price. One night I was looking on ebay and there it was...

The seller had an idea of what it was worth. I immediately started negotiating for a sale of the card. I think one or two people bid on it while the negotiations were taking place and within an hour or two of the card being placed on ebay it was pulled and a BIN was put on it. I bought the card and almost immediately someone started an "ok, who did it thread" on this bull board. The ususal comments were made regarding a card being pulled off of ebay and sold. Technically, it was sold on ebay because of the BIN. I would have been really bummed out if someone else had found the BIN before I could pull it off but I was on the phone with the seller waiting for the item number so that I could imediately pounce on it.

Let me tell you, I was sweating it out that someone might try to tell the seller how stupid they were for selling it instead of letting the auction end. Sure enough, the seller did receive a couple of emails. The seller forwared me a couple of the correspondances and I kind of cringed because I knew two of the people that emailed the seller. I was worried that the seller might try to back out on the deal, but all went well. The seller had a bit of integrity and an ebay contract to fulfill. I paid a fair price for the card, considering the condition. That's the tale of one card I wanted for years and was able to obtain.

I think about 6 months before this card came up for auction there were a few threads (on this bull board) regarding Zeenut cards that people wanted. I mentioned this particular card in some of those threads.

PURE LUCK!!!

Here is a movie star pillow top. There is also a picture of the baseball pillow top in an article in OLD CARDBOARD. It is an article about bf2s.
