Even though I am predicting the world will come to an end in 2009, on the chance that I am wrong, let me wish everyone a happy and healthy New Year. Times have been tough for most of us, but let's try to put a positive spin on 2009. How about we agree not to worry about the value of baseball cards and just focus on making our lives better in any way we can.
And on the chance the world really does come to an end this year (I'm guessing it will be the second week of October), it's never too late to sell your baseball cards...or repent.
Have a safe evening, and if you're going out make sure you have a designated driver!
I was piano shopping at this music store on Long Island a couple of years ago. A salesman came up to me and asked if I would like to hear a demonstration of one of their digital pianos. He seemed anxious to strut his stuff, so I emitted a begrudging "OK".
"This is a little something that I composed!" he said, then proceeded to play "Arthur's Theme" . STOP IT! If you're going to plagiarize, at least make it something good! I called him on it. He was NOT impressed!
Unless Christopher Cross decided to pull a John Howard Griffin and move out to the Island to peddle pianos...

My BEST WISHES for a very HAPPY & PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR to ALL members of N54!
Although my contributions are limited almost 100% to the PostWar Card, NS card & Memorabilia side, I spend MOST of my time reading & learning over here and feel as tho I have gotten to know MANY of you over the past couple of years.
Happy New Year to all fellow Net54'ers....and happy belated Festivus too... I hope everyone is able to stay off of the streets tonight and party safely....take care and happy collecting in '09 (wasn't it the HariKrishna's (sp?) that said the world was ending a few years ago?)
If you offend anyone while celebrating tonight, avail yourself of this handy apology form, courtesy of composer Bronny Kaper, who wrote, among other things, "Green Dolphin Street."
Matt, The Film Music Society, a group dedicated to preserving film music in all its forms, dug this up.
The group came into existence when it became known that some of the major motion picture studios had dumped hundreds of priceless historical scores into landfill - not unlike Topps dumping tons of 1952 Topps baseball into the ocean.

I'm new to NET54, and have thoroughly enjoyed the exchange of ideas and wit so far. I've learned a lot already from you veteran collectors, and appreciate your repartee. I wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR, and continued good fortune in your collecting pursuits. Thanks guys!
My first year participating in this forum and I have enjoyed getting to know some of you. The knowledge is incredible on this board. Look forward to 2009 and I hope everyone reaches their collecting goals and more important, have fun in the process. That is what it is all about. Happy collecting and Happy New Year.
Happy new year to all. Should be an interesting one as far as card prices and the economy. No worries tonight though. Time to celebrate. Thanks to all I've talked to who've been kind and helped me over the years.
Actually, I sold all my cards to Bruce for the Alcohol money but Bruce insisted that I throw in my sheep and first born male child. I offered a female child but he declined as he must also have something set up with Michael Jackson. Was able to buy a bottle of mad dog 50/50 with the procedes,

I lost electrical power at 5:30 pm., happy to say it was back at 11:30 pm.
I am starting to hate Michigan, I think the state is going broke. I have lived here all my life except for 5 years in Vegas 1996 - 2001. I am hoping for better in 2009. Not young, I am 67 years old.
A Super New Yr To All
As I think for many of you in the younger age crowd will see & experience things only our parents or grandparents have been thru
Hold on for a really rough ride &
The World will Not End in 09

Hope I'm wrong
But time will Tell
Joann, Congratulations on your achievements! Incidentally, your last comment may hold some truth, according to at least one board member. Happy New Years?.. It could be our last
