over the years i have seen alot of trivia on this board, and for the most part you guy's are very good!! not much stumping going on here. well i will try a few tough and semi tough (at least i think they are). some might be silly but it's all in fun !! lets see how long it takes.

1) who ? used to put a caggage leaf under his cap? he said it kept him cooler on hot day's.

2) who was the first batting champion to wear glasse's?

3) besides william bendix playing babe ruth, what other connection does he have with the babe ?

4) what is al simmons real name ?

5) what is the record for most k's by one pitcher in a baseball game? hint: not roger clemens.
extra credit- what is the single season record for k's for a professional leauge? hint: not nolan ryan.

6) who was the only pitcher to win 20 games on a 100 loss team? hint- the rest if the staff only won 32.

7) who is the only player to hit 50 h.r's and strike out less than 50 times in the same season?

I know Ted Kennedy (Of Old Judge fame and not the Senator) Once struck out 24 batters including 17 in a row using the early curve ball for Keokuk in 1884 and he struck out some huge number of batter that year too but that might not be the answer you are looking for.

Bendix was a bat boy for the Yankees, for Babe Ruth.

You guys already got the easy ones...

Barry, Carlton won 27 in 1972 for the Phillies, they lost only 97 games. I thought you were on it, though.

Unless it is Fred Toney in the minors, and thinking you want major league records,

Senators' Tom Cheney fanned 21 against Baltimore, 9-12-1962.

frank- tom cheny is correct again, i should have been more to the point, they dont have to be major leauge records, one is very pre-war, i may have helped here.

21,2,3,4 and first part of 5 down. in only 23 minutes!!!

Wasn't Kilroy the season record holder? Did someone already guess it?

The record for most strikeouts in a nine-inning game by a minor league pitcher was set by Ron Necciai, who struck out 27 batters in a Class-D game between the Appalachian League Bristol Twins and the Welsh Miners (May 13, 1952).

Matt Kilroy of the American Association, a long defunct professional league, struck out 513 in 1886.

Marty, you rascal....

Barry I was sure the 72 Phillies lost a hundred. Right there with you. It seemed like a hundred to this Cardinal fan. I'm sure that it seemed so to Phillies phans. I know I kept thinking that year how good the Cards would be if Mr. Busch hadn't gotten crossways and money tight with Steve Carleton and Jerry Reuss. Add those two to Bob Gibson and Rick Wise; the Cards would have had something going that year.

Baseball-reference has him with 42k's in '47

http://www.baseball-reference.com/m/mizejo01.shtml

Most of these were pretty easy to find on the web. The Hafey answer I actually knew without looking. To extend that question: Which of his cards mentions the accomplishment?
