I've completed the Cubs and now time to move on. Seeing as Chicago was a tough one on my wallet and everyone under the sun is collecting them causing me to battle it out I'd like to take a breather and fill a more managable team before I hit Detroit.
Is there a ranking, not by card, but by team that shows the relative difficulty of completing a team subset?
It would have to do with whether or not there are any rare cards in the set, then how many Hall of Famers are present. Forget Pittsburgh and the Athletics, because of Wagner and Plank. The St. Louis Browns has Demmitt, and the Cardinals has O'Hara, so those would be tough. I would stick to teams that don't have any rarities.
i know when i was putting sets together i always seemed to have a harder time getting N.Y. YANKEES for reasonable prices. so i'd say NY is the toughest.
I'm thinking about going for Cincinnati which should be pretty easy and follow it up with Cleveland before knocking out the Cobb's and Detroit.
Cinci has Huggins and Griffith but neither of those are hard to come by and I think the only low pop card is the Lobert which is attainable. Cleveland will be a step up from that.
Considering I'm not doing the back variations as with the Cubs........I'm already feeling somewhat relieved.
I've always thought they have the best looking cards overall of any team set. In addition they have the entire spectrum covered from 150 only (including horizontal), to 460 only, plus one of the few team change cards. Only 1 HOFer (Zach Wheat), so it's not expensive.
A great team set that's almost a perfect T206 sampler.
How many times do you get to finish a team in one fail swoop? I decided this morning to go ChiSox and now have them in hand thanks to a local dealer. I'm liking the Boston idea, but think my hearts set on Cincinnati next. They have some of the neatest poses in the set and outside of Huggins and Griffith not too bad to put together.
I do already have one but thank you for the offer. I bought a Foster Charleston today though that's pretty nice if you know anyone needing that guy.......hate to part but should be a good funding card for my team endeavours.
