Thats pretty cool!! I love these vintage photos and love it even more when previously unidentified (or misidentified)players are photo matched like this!!

effect on value?

As a newbie to collecting vintage photos - I am wondering how this might affect the value of the photo like this one. Walsh not there a negative? Significant event a postive?

Wonderful research!!

Whoever picked this up for $119.50 got it for at least 1/3 of value (at least to me).

Great research Mark. I remember the earlier thread on this picture and remember thinking that it had to be a bigger event then what the description was telling us. If that was the price, I agree that it was a steal at that level.

I wonder who the first guy is on the left with only a side view? He is a Red Sox. Looks like the correct height for Joe Wood or Nunamaker. What I find interesting is that in the M 101-2 photo of the Red Sox team from 1912, Joe Wood has his right arm in the exact pose as the guy on the far left of this photo but with only a side view to go on, it is too difficult to tell.

Thanks for posting this.

Thanks all for the comments.

On Michael's comment - note that Zeider lists at 5'10' and he is bending over a bit. So as to the guy far left, I think that Nunamaker at 6'2" would tower above him. Wood at 5'11" is feasible. I'm pretty conservative on these - I would only say it can be him - nothing I can see would eliminate him. Comparing the photo to a direct profile of Wood (of which I have several) doesn't help much. Comparing an ear from behind to an ear in profile is difficult.

The switching of opening of Fenway Park for Walsh raises the value, due to the significance of the day. The price paid seems like a good deal.

Big players and big events both add value to a photo. In this case, opening of such a famous park has more value than the presence of a minor HOFer.
