Is there not going to be a tourney among the members this year? I have the T-206 floating championship card of Chase receiving the trophy and have won it 2 out of the last 3 years. I keep waiting to hear something but I haven't heard anything yet...

I was looking on the ESPN's major bracket contest and noticed one guy picked 31 of 32 winners Thursday and Friday. Great job! One small problem, the one game he failed to get right was Tennessee and Oklahoma State, he picked UT. He also picked Tennessee to go all the way. OUCH!

So the Sweet Sixteen consists of four #1's, four #2's, four #3's, two #4's and a #5. Arizona is the only low seed to win two games. A very predictable tournament so far.

Here's where it starts getting interesting because there are some teams left capable of beating the #1 seeds. You have to take a gamble or two to try and win, mine is Villanova over Duke and then Pitt.

just about choked it out today......they showed a lot determination coming back but they gotta play better than that....

I went to some of the games here in Boise to watch my Utah State Aggies play (they should have beat Marquette, completely outplayed them). I dont think I will ever go back. The atmosphere was great but they literally have like a 5 minute timeout for TV every 2 minutes of game time. The TV timeouts killed just about every run any team was on and destroyed the flow of the games. You see all the commercials on TV but dont really think about how unwatchable it makes the games in person until you go to the event and find yourself sitting there for 3 times as long looking at an empty floor as the actual game itself.

I went to the last two days of the CAA tournament this year and couldn't agree with you more. The amount of TV timeouts are unbelievable. Like you said when you're watching it at home it doesn't seem excessive, but when your there it's absurd.

Dan, the odds are pretty good, as long as you simply take the higher seeds in every pick!! (I'm just a sore loser!!)

This year has really lacked the drama & fun of having teams like Davidson, George Mason, Bradley, etc. making a good run. If one simply took the higher seed in every game they would be doing great right now!

Our shop pool allows you to enter as many brackets as you are willing to pay for, so every year I enter one that is simply the higher seed winning every game along with a second bracket of my picks. I've won the pool 2 out of the last four years - once with the "my picks" bracket and once with the "higher seed wins" bracket.

Ironically, the year the higher seed bracket won was last year, which had more early upsets than most years. I guess when there are a lot of upsets in the early rounds almost no one picks them right, then when the truly high seeds start picking off the upstart upsetters the points started coming in.

Right now my high seed bracket is in a 5-way tie for fourth in a 25-entry pool. I've been turning in the second, high-seed-wins, bracket in quite a few pools over the years. In my experience, that bracket almost always does very well - up toward the top of the rankings in most pools - but almost never actually wins.

Well, there have been a ton of close calls involving top seeds but I agree, so far the bracket games have won by the team which was supposed to win.
I do think things now get interesting. There are some 3 and 4 seeds which will give the big boys trouble. Every team in the tourney is beatable and there is no consensus (especially since NC's Lawson is still hobbling). If a team gets hot and gets lucky they could win it all. I don't see Xavier, Michigan State, Gonzaga, or Arizona going all the way but you can make a case for the remaining 12.
Best game this week? Could just be Mizzou-Memphis. You might need body armor to play and a calculator to keep score. Former Arkansas coach Nolan Richardson's protege Mike Anderson has Mizzou playing that "40 minutes of hell" and if there IS a cinderella, it just might be the Tigers from Columbia. Hope not since I have Memphis but it will be fun to watch.

Another way to improve your chances is to fill out hundreds of bracket sheets. I have heard that's the way some do in those ESPN & other Nationally advertised pools.

On the other hand, to cover every possible combination w/ bracket sheets is impossible! There is not enough time between Sun & Thurs tip-off to do it.

Sorry Bob...your bracket is officially busted. Go Missouri!

I hate Memphis. As a loyal Razorback fan I have ALWAYS hated Memphis. Sheesh...

Michael you could be right but there is still a mathematical chance to win the pool based on all other picks going as to form and OU, Nova and Kansas or Mich. State making the final four. All in all unlikely but it exists mathematically...

That's the beauty and yet frustrating thing about the NCAA pools. Ultimately it's about picking the majority of the final four teams and national champion. The early rounds are essentially tie breakers for the people that pick the same teams to go the distance.
