Where can I find baseball highlight videos?

I'm working on a project for my animation class and I am having an incredibly difficult time finding good quality Red Sox highlight videos. I need things like a Ted Williams homer, Fisk's 1975 homer, Pedro pitching, Clemens' 20k game, etc. There are some on MLB.com but I can't figure out any way to download them. Does anyone have these video clips or know of a DVD that does?! I have the 2004 World Series DVD but I need older video too. It seems like they should be easier to obtain. If anybody comes through with the clips or a lead on a DVD I'll gladly help you out if you ever need something animated or video edited.

Teddy Ballgame thanks you!

Here's a good source of older Red Sox material....

Dear Dan, Here's a good source of Boston Red Sox material---Rare Sportsfilms. It is based in the basement of Doak Ewing, an early major collector, writer, and dealer. He is on the WEB. I believe if you just type in www.raresportsfilms.com, it should come up. Doak lives in Naperville, Illinois, as I recall. For nearly 20 years, he has sold videos, and now DVDs of some of the nicest and rarest sports films EVER done.

From memory, he has a 1939 film on the 100th anniversary of baseball. Not sure if Ted was in that, though since his rookie year coincided with that time, the producers may have shown some good shots of Ted to pay tribute to the "young stars of tomorrow." Dan, he also has a video with TWO films devoted to Ted Williams. There may be a good Boston Red Sox color film from his playing days. A good thing to do is get on the web site, and check out the list of what Doak has. I believe he has a synopsis of each video/DVD. This is helpful as his stuff is not cheap. However, it is high quality stuff. As the saying goes, you will not find this material in your Wal-Mart or Best Buy. Finally, give Doak a call when you've come up with your list. He is very helpful, and will honestly try to assist you in getting exactly what you're looking for. Have paper and pen ready, though, as he'll make suggestions quickly!

I have intensely enjoyed what I have purchased from 'ol Doak, and the videos have truly complemented my enjoyment of two of the sports that he offers videos of. I hope this helps. -Brian Powell

I second the Doak Ewing suggestion.

OT, and not a highlight video, but I taped Ty Cobb's appearance on "What's My Line?" off a Gameshow Network rerun about 10 years ago. A lot of ballplayers appeared as the "mystery guest" over the years. Mays, for sure. Mantle, I think.

I believe the reason you're having trouble finding Red Sox highlight videos is because there have been so few of them.

Perhaps you can convince your instructor to change the focus to Yankee highlight videos; they are quite plentiful.
