Ok....it looks like all but the last few hours of posts have been transferred over so registration on the new board is open. PLEASE please be patient as I too am learning all of this stuff. We can come back to this thread for questions and answers. There are a few personal questions asked in registration. The first one is your date of birth. It is there because there is a law about allowing children 13 and under to be on the internet. It's something like a COPPA law. I don't really care what you put but if you get funny and put something like 13 yrs or less you will be denied access. Do that again and it might be denied permanently as a safety precuation. So we shall see how this goes. Wish me/us luck...Again, this (the old) forum will stay completely open for a few days but I do hope everyone goes to the new board because in a few days you won't have an option. Remember that you need to put your good email address as that is where a link will go to to be clicked on. IF I don't know you or something looks weird you won't be approved. You CAN stay anonymous while posting on the board but not if you get confrontational or in an argument etc.... You can NOT stay anonymous to myself....In that case you can lurk only....take care
Every time I fill in the fields and hit registration it makes me start all over again. What am I doing wrong? And what's with that image with the six characters- I can't read it.
I think Leon simply has to verify all the new users; my guess is that "page not found" warning is of no moment. If you check on the bottom, all people who just registered are there.
I got about 30 registrations in the first 2 minutes. One thing I am not seein is a spot where a full real name is needed. Eventually that will be a necessary evil to participate. I just approved a few folks but hang in there...we will get this worked out. OF course the fee is 0.....please be patient everyone. I am doing the proverbial drinking from a fire hose right now...thanks...
"The registration fee is 0 -- just like your tax bill!"
Considering I just filed today, I'm not getting your joke. I did everything I could to make my taxes be a wash this year on 4/15, but I just never get the damn AMT figured right (until, of course, it's too late and I have to file.)
Leon- I have now tried to register about five times and it just loops me back and I have to start all over again. Do you understand what this is about?
I don't have permission yet to post. I guess Leon noticed me walking in to the new forum with my rooster with the underprint under my arm. Foiled again.
Once you click on the link and get the page not found error go to the new forum and you'll be up and running. Even though you get the error clicking on the link activates your account.
Again, hang in there. I feel like Lucy on the chocolate line!!!!! I am looking into stuff..We have had about 100 users register in the last 10 minutes.....we'll get there. I am not the techy guy so what Trae said about the link not working will have to be the very temporary fix. Any special requests will have to wait a few hours....I want to try to approve everyone asap and so forth...
once you get the first e-mail and it will direct you to the page to enter your activation ID. Then it says you will be notified by e-mail when the account activates.
I have approved almost everyone so far. Eventually I am going to go back and ask for a real name....first and last...but for now I just want to get everyone over there....thanks for everyone's patience. The chocolate line is speeding up!!
The new forum is a little bit dizzying but I think we will get used to it. I will take special requests later but for now if anyone is having a problem registering or logging into the new forum please post here or email me. I have approved everyone so far. As for issues with a specific situation we can hold those for later....I appreciate everyone's patience....Also, there was a question above about changing a security color or pattern. That can be done but let me get to it later.
I changed my user name on your site to edukatedheel, but I can't seem to post. I get this error:
edukatedheel, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.
I think I just sent ya'll email passwords. That process looks to be manual and I am behind on it...lmk if ya'll aren't able to get in, in a few minutes....thanks
I think I just sent you a password. Let me know if you are not able to get in, in a few minutes...sorry for the slight issue. I knew there would be a few....(well, maybe a lot).....regards
Thanks for the support but I sort of do need to know. For some reason some folks are getting in without me sending a password (it's a manual one by one process) and others aren't able to. So.....I do appreciate your thoughts but if folks aren't able to get in it's ok to put it here. As for other requests I would appreciate those being held. I think we are up to over 130 new registrations in about an hour or so. The chocolates are running down my legs...or at least I hope those are chocolates. ....thanks again.
I changed my user name from castaways to edukatedheel. I am able to log into the new site with that user name and my password, but for some reason I can't make a post.
Go see if you can now...I think I manually approved you to post in every forum.....Unfortunately there is a lot to learn behind the scenes and there was no way to do it until we just jumped in.....BTW, did you get an email confirmation or any emails pertaining to your registration?
I just logged back in and I still get the same message when I try to post. I received an initial email, but the links wouldn't work. When I went back to the site, it allowed me to update my profile and everything else except I can't post.
I guess I am not understanding the way the registration is working. Some folks are posting over there with no issue and some can't.....I will keep at it...and update in a few
To be truthful about this i like the old site better! easy to use and easy to find things! If it is not broke PLEASE don`t fix it! Sorry but i do not like changes when everything is working ok! How about you? Thanks!
I still haven't received an email except for the initial activation one. I just tried the site again before I head off to bed (work in DC, so I get up at 4am) and I still can't post. It obviously recognizes my user name but I get the same error message when I try to post:
edukatedheel, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?

I'm sure once the site is up and running and the glitches are smoothed out you will find that the new site is just as easy to use as this site, with a lot more to offer.
You don't have to use all the bells and whistles, so it can be as simple or complicated as you choose.
I believe the reason for switching is because this hosting site is completely outdated, gives no service support, has constant maintenance times (although who knows what maintenance they are doing), and for many of us screens will go blank, be blocked, etc for periods of time.
You hit it on the head. We have had this debate in the last 6 months. Actually I wanted to change for a long time due to all of the issues. It was most everyone else that didn't. The last informal poll we took it was about 80% or so, that said they wanted to change as things had gotten that bad for them. I agreed and here we are. I am fairly sure once we get the kinks worked out the new one will be better...but ya know what? For the rest of the year, if we really hate the new one and 80% vote to come back here, then it will be favorably considered. That being said we will have to at least give the new one a chance once the kinks are worked out. I would hope most will be fixed in a few days...thanks
For some reason it doesn't seem like the email part of the registration is working...and it might not have to. Peter Spaeth just got into the other board while registering and logging in AND without getting an email. This is not how it's supposed to work but it did. I will see if he (hi Peter) will post what he did over here.....hang in there.....Also, if anyone is in the other side and can explain what happened maybe we can get to the bottom of this....I wasn't supposed to have to send out passwords manually. I tried it with Peter, a few minutes ago, and he never even got the 1 (I really sent it twice from two different places) I sent him.... It's been 3 weeks since I did my own registration and some things have changed too. Others' thoughts?
I too have been waiting for an email, I'll try and log in over there
and see if I can get in ala Peter.
Steve
WinPitcher, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.
I'm awaiting activation.

He is registered in the system so it had to come from him. There is complete control, with respect to security, for every user. There wouldn't be a troll for more than a second even without my initial approval. The backend of the software is very feature rich, unlike this one.
You can add another one that never got an email. I registered about an hour ago and just now tried to log in which it allowed but would not let me post a message on the boards.
Well, no email for me either. I can log into the new site but cannot post.
I get this:
jimonym, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

I also just manually enabled all forum privileges for you.....and sent you a password that probably won't get to you. I just got word that someone else got into the new site by just registering and logging in....I have looked around on the back end of the software a lot and don't seen anything that is not supposed to be the way I think it is....so I will keep investigating.
I think I got Jamie's working but it was manual. If you are having a problem, as long as you have an email address to search on, in this thread, I will be able to manually approve in the other system. That should cure what ails us immediately...or at least most....
Leon - I never received my activation code e mail.

Keep posting for me over in this thread but the da** system is hanging up on the other side at the new forum....hopefully it's just getting bombarded, which is my guess, and is running slowly.
Thanks let me reiterate what you reiterated too....
After you click on the activation link in the email --- and it doesn't work --- remove the /forum part of the URL and then try again.
Trae suggested this method earlier today and it worked for me.
ALSO, I did go manually approve all folks in this string that had an email in this string....I might need to wait on some help if this doesn't work....though I will keep poking around. We'll get there...
I am hoping I fixed yours too if you could go try?....Something freaking broke in the middle of this process. When this first opened up 3-4 hours ago I was getting tons of registered emails...and I am not getting any anymore....
Hey I am having same problem as many of the others. I never received the confirmation e-mail and the new forum site won't let me post. Hopefully you can help fix my account. Thanks!
If ya'll last 3 could try to login and post and let me know..I would appreciate it. I apologize for the process. It's sort of like your car running out of gas 2 miles from a gas station in the middle of no where....You push....so I am pushing....I am old and feeble and am getting tired though....
Hi Leon,
I seem to be able to post on the new site with no problem. I never did recieve the email telling me where to log into. I just went on the new site and it all just seemed to work. We are now like kids in a candy store on the NEW NET54!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Current Topic - New Forum is open for registration
