Hello to all visitors! Please visit the NEW Net54 board at

You can directly contact the moderator here if you have any questions or comments. Enjoy!
The last thread was way too long so we can start over here. This is what I said (below). Whoever is continuing to have troubles can post in this thread and I will help until we have success though I am getting a little tired this evening. Hang in there guys and girls.... we are almost there. Also, if you are lucky enough to get a registration email, the link you click on, you have to take out the /forum part of the url (web address) to make it work. An email confirmation isn't necessary for most folks to register and login.... ...thanks
Ok....it looks like all but the last few hours of posts have been transferred over so registration on the new board is open. PLEASE please be patient as I too am learning all of this stuff. We can come back to this thread for questions and answers. There are a few personal questions asked in registration. The first one is your date of birth. It is there because there is a law about allowing children 13 and under to be on the internet. It's something like a COPPA law. I don't really care what you put but if you get funny and put something like 13 yrs or less you will be denied access. Do that again and it might be denied permanently as a safety precuation. So we shall see how this goes. Wish me/us luck...Again, this (the old) forum will stay completely open for a few days but I do hope everyone goes to the new board because in a few days you won't have an option. Remember that you need to put your good email address as that is where a link will go to to be clicked on. IF I don't know you or something looks weird you won't be approved. You CAN stay anonymous while posting on the board but not if you get confrontational or in an argument etc.... You can NOT stay anonymous to myself....In that case you can lurk only....take care
Now. Stickyness with pages may have been on my end. I just fired up my Modem & Router again and EVERYTHING is working better.
Thanks. Go to bed Leon........
For a lot of the guys who in the previous thread reported registration / log-in problems at the new forum... we'd bet a lot of the trouble has to do with cookie settings. If you're having trouble registering, signing in, &c' -- look for a "Tools" tab on your browser taskbar, click that, click on "Internet Options" in the menu that should appear, click on the "Privacy" tab there, adjust your setting to allow cookies. Then try registering again.
Hi Leon,
I was checking out the BST pages and in looking at it if you are only going to be able to put 20 listings on the first page I think you are going to get alot of BUMPING to be be on the fist page. Just an observation.
Leon--I filled out the registration form but never got an email back with the link, as the site said I would. Did I do something wrong or is there an issue?
I have been doing a manual "clicking" of some boxes behind the scenes to manually allow all of the correct permissions for those having any issue. I am going to sleep. See ya'll tomorrow....best regards
I seem to be having problems logging into the new site. I tend to be an infrequent poster on this site when trying to log into the new one I don;t seem to be recognised at all - even my email address. Can you help?
is down. I've tried to get on since about 0530. Maybe down for maintenance or something. Or maybe just me but I'm not having any trouble with anything else...
It looks like the site is down. A few minutes ago I could get to the front page but I wasn't able to log in. Now the site won't come up at all. I tried IE and Chrome. Chrome says it looks like the link is broken. Last night I was able to navigate the site and log in but my username never showed up on the list of members and I wasn't able to post.
Leon, thanks for all of your hard work and patience. Hang in there!
Hi Leon --I got my email with user name and activation ID but still can't seem to get in ---"it's me not you" I am sure but help would be greatly appreciated.
Your using the forum (Powered by vBulletin) that another site I'm on uses and I am having the same problem of getting the confirmation email that 100's of people could not get on the other site due to using a hotmail email address.
Solution was for the person running the board to set up a temporary password for the individuals and emailing that to those having problems.
I could just register using a different email address but I use the same screen name (Barfvader) everywhere and would rather keep it.
There are definitely some issues ongoing with the new site. I will be looking to my techy guys for some help. Until that one is rock solid we won't be totally abandoning this one. This one is good for reporting the issues if nothing else. And I know there are those who didn't want to change but it wasn't something taken lightly. IF this one wasn't broke we wouldn't be moving....and trust me....it might do simple stuff ok most of the time but there are so many things that don't work it's not a good long term situation. We think the other board will be...So, hang in there. We can keep tweaking the new forum individually for folks and make it work though that's not how it really should be...regards
edited to add...obviously some of the new board is having issues....I would rather not create new passwords for everyone but can certainly help as a "one off". It seems most folks are able to post when I manually click some permission buttons. We will certainly be addressing some things asap...

Leon - Never mind, I just attempted to log in and I got in despite never receiving a confirmation e mail.

Thanks for ya'lls patience. We will certainly leave this forum open until the other one is fairly solid, meaning no more red x's, good avatars etc....
I did find something that is pretty interesting on the new site...A control I can put in place for the Peter Chao's of the world...would this be funny or what?
"Tachy Goes to Coventry
This setting allows you to set certain users as being globally ignored. Their posts etc. are not seen by any users except themselves. This gives them the illusion that they are still functioning members of the forum when in reality nobody is seeing their posts. Enter a list of userids separated by spaces."
I think everyone did that to me in the new chat room last night. There were 7 people but no one was talking. They probably had me on "ignore"....I am instigating an "ignore" tab at home....I am going to patent it as a marriage saver....

Great idea -- see if you can frustrate the unwanted posters to tears. Reminds me of the old playground gag where you get someone to close their eyes and make wild gesticulations with their arms, thinking they are playing some sort of game, and then walk away and point the person out to other people on the playground. I've seen the same trick done at NBA basketball games, where they leave someone chosen from the crowd alone on the court, with their eyes closed, waving their arms, looking like a fool, thinking they will win some sort of prize if they follow the instructions given them. Everybody laughs. Never thought it was funny myself.
I also have found the new site to be slow with a 5 or 10 second delay going from click to page change. Am glad to hear that the problem is not unique to me.
An Ignore function, that's kind of like the sound of one hand clapping, Bringing the Noise in reverse, yeah?
I was able to get on last night but this morning the site just will not come up for me. It is really really slow or just will not load. Is it me or the new site?
It's not you. I just emailed with Brian and he says he thinks he knows what some of the issues are but can't address them while at his day job. I can assure everyone that the latency and slowness is absolutely unacceptable and WILL NOT happen long term or we'll scrap the whole darn thing. I am extremely confident all of our issues will get worked out in the next week or so...and most likely sooner. The new site has some features that rock but it will take some time to fine tune it the way the large majority of our members want it. BTW, the chat room is one of the other really bright spots over there. It wasn't real cheap to implement but it's pretty cool and everyone that has gone over there thinks it's a big improvement over this rudimentary one.... I don't go in there a lot but I might start more often since it's really neat. best regards and sorry for the issues. They were somewhat expected.
i registered and logged in, but....and i'm not sure i can articulate this well....i'm getting a ton of red boxes with "x"s as if i need to enable links or show picture.
You explained it perfectly. It is an issue I have addressed a few times (the red x's) and one everyone is having. Brian will have to look into it later this evening or as soon as he can. He said he knows what the issue is but can't fix it while at his day job.....regards
I too never received an email, although I can log in with my username and password. Trouble is, I get timed out or something, because every 20-30 minutes I have to log in again. IOW, it lets me view but not post unless I'm logged in, which is probably intended, but when I've gone to post some half hour later I'm not recognized as already logged in and have to do it over again. Kind of a pain.
We are working on those issues. The hanging up (timing out) issue is killing me too. I think we are making baby steps though. I just clicked on some buttons about avatars and I have a feeling I might have fixed a lot of issues with those (but not positive). As for getting disconnected I think we can reset that too....to whatever time amount we want. I am sure we can set it higher if it would help?
I tried to register last night and did so without a problem, but I am still waiting for the email that would allow me to activate my account and start posting.
