First, let me say that I don't believe anyone ever WANTS war....
War is an ugly and extreme thing. No one actually wants to see a loss of life.
However, there are times when war is the only option. So many people think that endless diplomacy will eventually win out in the end, but that's just not true. There comes a time when there must be decisive action when there is a serious threat not only to the United States, but to the world. I believe Hussein is a huge threat, and not only to countries other than Iraq. He uses his own people as "human shield"....Remember Hitler? Slaughtering his own people? And Stalin? We've tried diplomacy with Hussein for the past 10 years. It hasn't worked. To allow Hussein to develop weapons of mass destruction, when he would NOT hesitate to actually use them, would be ludicrous and suicidal.
Had the United States not gotten involved in WWII, the chances are great that Hitler would have exterminated many, many more Jews in Europe. If the world allows Hussein free reign in Iraq, his own people will suffer, and chances are great that other nations, like perhaps Kuwait again, will be at risk. This war is justified, as sad and as painful as it is, and I fully support our President.
But regardless of your opinion of this war or what it's about, I want everyone to keep our troops in their thoughts and prayers. They are incredibly brave for serving their country, and I keep having nightmares about the way VietNam vets were treated upon coming home. I don't want that for these men and women. They risk their lives and make so many sacrifices. They deserve respect and love and prayers, and I will be respecting, loving and praying for them for as long as this war lasts.
This is all just my opinion, and I hope I haven't offended anyone!
