The Aberrant metaplot is actually kind of cool, to my mind. The problem that they've set up for themselves is the same kind of problem that hits every comic universe that allows too much reality in: the four-color superheroes at the center of that universe start to look real fuckin' stupid.
That said, I'm impressed with Aberrant as a game. It's the only decent superhero system I've ever seen that didn't require a lot of study and practice to master (i.e. Heroes Unlimited), and which allows for every superhero power I've ever heard of.
