So I saw the Spongebob movie tonight. It was really damn good. Go "lol kiddy" all you want, but the movie was packed full with some excellent comedic timing. My only real disappointment was that they didn't have cameos by the cast of Rocko's Modern Life, which was mentioned in an interview a while back.
Considering Spongebob is more about the supporting characters than Spongebob himself, I should point out that Patrick gets the second biggest amount of screentime. That is a good thing, since he mostly steals the show. After him, it's Plankton, what with he being the villain. Krabs and Squidward get a few scenes, but nothing much. Barely anything for Gary, Sandy and Mrs. Puff.
Highlights include:
- The live-action opening credits. More movies should start like this.
- Patrick's attraction to Mindy the mermaid.
- "Drunk" Spongebob.
- Anything involving the "cyclops". I smell Oscar for best acting.
- David Hasselhoff. I'm sure if I was a pothead, that scene would've been godly.
So yeah, recommended. Especially if you're a big fan of the show.
