For those who care (warnnig: kids)

by

I have a daughter (born 6th December 2008). I also have a new Youtube channel that I forgot I had and, until recently, was never used. So for those of you who care and have 90 seconds to spare, you can see what she looks like (along with my wife, Rosemary - I'm behind the camera though, so no joy there) here:

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom wish list

by

So, if you haven't heard by now (and the people who know this board exists should have heard), Tatsunoko vs. Capcom is getting a U.S. release by the grace of God and who knows how many licensors (and, also, I postulate, a Nintendo that is dead set against having an open reason for people to hack their consoles). One character will not make it from the Japanese release - we're sorry to see the genie go. Instead, we get five characters to replace him and wifi support.

Yeah, we're really sad over losing him. Watch me cry. ^_^

So, three characters from Tatsunoko works and two from Capcom. Wishlist time!

Gatchaman seems to be pretty well represented. I think a gang of traditional Yokai based on the bunch that was running around saving people in Karas would be a neat character...like the umbrella, a pair of geta, some other yokai connecting it together. Or, for something simpler, Nue the Cool Guy, the female Karas, or the gigantic bull demon mikura from near the end...a good match for Lightan.

Maybe Tekkaman Blade to have another version that isn't so portly looking? happy.gif

Or...how about Speed Racer?

Judo Boy? Then they could add Sagat and Judo Boy could have HARSH WORDS FOR HIM.

Generator Gawl?

For Capcom...Bionic Commando. A Star Gladiator, preferably either Gamof or Zelkin, though Claire would be OK too. If they can put Lightan in, why not Kikaioh from Tech Romancer?

And the reveal!

by

...courtesy of Capcom failing at Javascript, Shoryuken.com forum readers being alert to this, and Racewing bringing this to our collective attention.

Tatsunoko newbies:

  • Tekkaman Blade (formally announced)
  • Joe "The Condor" Asakura
  • Yatterman-2

Capcom newbies:

  • Zero (either MMX Zero pleeeeeease, MMZ Zero, or Zero Gouki from Cyberbots)
  • Frank West

I do understand the Tatsunoko choices covering no new properties, seeing as they went through licensing hell to get what they did. On the Capcom side, I can say I am pleased, and now I need to get a 360 of my own and Dead Rising. ^_^

Gavok and MMK reunite, MST style! (PS. give us a dollar)

by Gavok

Some of you may have heard of Rifftrax. It's a website by Mike Nelson of MST3K where they cover more popular movies (Matrix, Batman & Robin, the Happening) in their usual style. To keep it legal, you only download the mp3 of the riffing and match it up to whatever movie it is.

They also do shorts, but since they are public domain, they get to embed the riffs into the shorts themselves.

They just opened up a part of the site called iRiffs. This is where any Joe can go and make his own MST/Rifftrax files for public consumption. Me, MMK and some other guy got together for this and currently have a short up.

Superman in Japoteurs, a 1940's Superman cartoon about Japanese spies stealing giant planes.

For the love of God, go watch it. Our next project is Mortal Kombat: The Journey Begins, which has potential to be complete gold.

On the comic side of things, I've been giving similar criticism to Jeph Loeb's awful treatment of the Ultimate Marvel universe. Check out Ultimate Edit and the sequel Ultimatum Edit!

So is it too early to start the Obama Assasination Betting Pool?

by Ultima

I seem to remember us having a betting pool on when Bush would bomb a country. And while of course we hope it never comes to pass, I don't think anyone disagrees that Obama has a slightly higher chance of getting assassinated than the typical president. So does anyone care to start a pool? :|

On a completely unrelated note, I'm having my first kid in a month's time (hopefully). Looks like I'll be able to tell her there's some hope in this world after all.

As for this place's popups, thanks to a ton of script-based account thefts reported, I switched over to Firefox and am using the no-script plugin. Seems to work pretty well for here, as I never see a popup.
