As a corollary to your question, it made me think about whether one's first experience in listening to a particular piece (ie a symphony) performed by a certain conductor and orchestra influence one's later experiences in listening to the same work performed by others.
Does that first experience imprint some pattern that when heard differently later on, trigger a dislike, for example. Does our first experience create an unrecognized bias in our appreciation?
Just wondering.
