For those coming into Winona from the west on Saturday, there is an event you may want to swing by.



This is a rib joint in the small town of Elgin, MN. It's also a great place to jump off the freeway and take 30 minutes of curves for the final run into Winona. Bob and Joe cook up some great ribs. I hope to be there on Sat afternoon myself, and would love to see some bikes rolling through.

This place is about 14 miles north of I-90 from the Eyota exit. Just go north off the exit ramp. Bob's is on the right, just as you enter Elgin.

Another bit of trivia Elgin and BBQ trivia, John Hardy, of Hardy's BBQ in Rochester, lived and is buried in Elgin.

Well, that's not REAL far from suburban Theilman, Minnesota, where the Upper Midwest Trials Association will hold a competition Saturday and Sunday, May 23 and 24, where (according to Minnesota Motorcycle Monthly) you can see The World's Largest Trials Rider (TM and copyright) be humiliated and defeated by young children and a certain dairy farmer from New Ulm.

Yours truly will be competing on a bike with a shiny new transmission, just installed after witnessing one of the most horrific sights imaginable while changing oil a couple weeks ago ... seeing two little bits of a thrust washer come out the oil-drain hole. Eeeeuuuuu.

Jim, if you guys are going to load up and go to Bob's, let me know what time. My farm is right on the way and I'd gladly give you a tour and mooch a ride over to Elgin, or meet you there if you dislike flatulance. From Gerald's trailer it's about 15 minutes to Bob's.
