Frankly This Is An Improvement

August 19 2009, 8:29 AM

Over the "Oh, did I forget to shave again?" & that nasty-ass ball cap he always insists on wearing. Besides it's not like this is MEANINGFUL football - you know, like the SEC.

So, so pleased THE season is upon us,

Lurleen

What's an SEC? Do they use gamecocks in that there?

Lisa - you do realize that any Minnesotan under the age of 50 does not even know what college football is...

(though the only D1 team to win three consecutive national championships is... Minnesota)

You just can't help but have some love in your heart for a team whose mascot is a gopher. A golden one, at that.

We're from MN, and you aren't, or something like that

Even better than that, I have a squirrel who is frequently seen out in front of my house that and it has a golden tale. I'm not kidding. Its body is regular squirrel color, but its tale looks the thing went to a beauty parlor and things got a little crazy.

It's the darndest thing.

About a week ago it was laying kind of quiet in the street and I thought someone must have flattened it, but as I drove closer it hopped up and scampered away. Phew.

Jim

ps. Heard on the Good Neighbor this morning that the Vikings received $4,500 for that new quarterback from the federal government under that dollars for clunkers program.

Alex, UGA Alumna for $200 please.

Wait a minute, if you're going to take credit for Tarkenton you have to take the blame for Headcase Herschel Walker also!

Don't go hatin' on Herschel! He does have a Heisman and is considered one of the greatest college football players of all time. Georgia's 1980, undefeated season, National Championship with Herschel as a freshman still gives me goosebumps.

Sidenote - Get Eddie to tell the story of how I planned my wedding around the Georgia football schedule that year.

I think this year, the Gophers will be more interesting to watch... at least they will be outside (like football is meant to be played).

Unfortunetly they will be having staff day at the new stadium this year and I will be stuck riding some boring road called the "Dragon" instead of checking out the new stadium...My wife really badly wants to go in my place happy.gif
