I am sure every one who has lived in PNG, especially our capital city and of course Lae and the other parts of the Country notorious for violence, (Popondetta, Tari, etc...) does not need statistics to show that there are high level of crimes.
But that previous statement itself is open to discussion, because has Crime really escalated or is our perception of it becoming more sharpened by the media's ever watchful eye? In other words, is crime more apparent now because of our paranoia or is it truly increasing?
That however is not the main thing I would like for us to discuss. Could we perhaps discuss what we think are some possible remedies to the crime problem, and even further, what the possible causes of these crimes are.
The discussion is not limited to Criminologists or Law Professors, we have as much right to participate in such a discussion as they do, after all, we are many times the victims.
