I do agree very much with both the above comments. Those who use God as the excuse to do nothing about PNG's corruption, under the table land stealing games, and resource rip offs, are condeming their children and grandchildren to a more miserable life. Is that what God wants, us deciding to suffer under exploiters because we know we will go to heaven while our inactions condemn future generations to struggle more and have more hardship?
I also do agree that our laziness comes from our land and wantok wealth which is a great security net which keeps us from being desperate like those poor peoples in the so called developed countries. As long as we stay rich in this way, we will be easy going. Is it a better alternative to lose all this which is the only thing that will force us to grab like starving dogs for other people's wealth? That's how the kongkongs act, those sad and pathetic mostly landless peoples. Do we want to be like them? Maybe the alternative is not to lose our easy going nature but to be proud of it. But I would certainly say that this special freedom we have will only last if we shut the doors on the resource rip off kongkongs. Why can't we process more of these raw resources ourselves and sell them ready made to the kongkongs instead of them ripping off the raw materials?
