Response to An Unbreakable Bond, PNG and the Pacific Islands Forum

Obviously PNG has to attend the necessary regional meetings to maintain diplomatic links but the Pacific community offers us nothing except a chance to be overly sentimental about the mythical past as the original poster has demonstrated.

Papua New Guinea's future has always been Westwards and Northwards, the east and the south just hold us back. The pacific Islands Forum has much of an impact on our lives as pissing in the ocean has an effect on sea levels, in fact, the main reason dignitaries attend those functions is to get pissed near the ocean and discuss sea levels.

Although PNG doesn't need the Pacific, it does need APEC and ASEAN, this shouldn't mean that we actually should sever all links with our oceanic neighbours but it would help to prioritise our international relations better.
