Response to 3 Factors |
| Victor, Victor,
All of what you say is true in theory. The problem is that you've never apparently investigated the feasibility of any of your ideas which is why you're heading towards so many dead ends, while promoting those deadends to everyone else all the way to the edge of the cliff.
Take railroads. Railroads are collapsing in most of the world because they're no longer an economic transportation system except (barely) in extremely densely populated areas the like of which PNG will never experience. Please investigate where you can build railroads - more than 90% of PNG is off limit. Then investigate why so few new railroads are being built. Railroad building is extremely labour intensive.
The only people who even remotely consider railroads being economic in PNG are the stupid politicians that have no foot in reality.
Now, about us being low income. You are ignoring (you often ignore facts staring at you in the face) that we're not all that low income when you factor in the informal economy which is just as important as the formal economy to everyone but the government. The government cannot tax the informal economy, so that's why they try to ignore it. And you buy into their bullcrap. But the formal economy our government has developed over the last 30 years has mostly succeeded in making the rich far far richer, the poor even poorer (because the formal economy is heavily import dependent which bagars our kina value), and brought in heaps of foreigners to strip our country bare of the very raw resources we will need in time for our own development.
If we were so low income, factories would locate in PNG instead of in China, India, etc. The reason why they locate in those other places is because they can get workers for a fraction of the cost of what Papua New Guineans demand. That's our blessing, it's their curse (those people in India, etc) because they work like slaves for almost nothing.
Yet that's what you want for PNG? Please stop ignoring what should be staring in your face! |
