HAVE SOUTHERN HIGHLANDERS REALLY BENEFITTED FROM OIL SEARCH ??

Realistically have the southern highlanders benefited in any way from the presence of Oil Search's presence and the pumping out of their Oil????

The answer is a big resounding NO!!!!!!!.

The biggest winners in the oil search presence is Peter Botten and his Sydney based expatriate workers.
The PNG office is only a front to keep Papua New Guineans happy...

The next biggest winners are the expatriate workers. Take for example, an engineer from Australia or England working for Oil search would be paid in the vicinity of K400,000 - K700,000 ($ 200,000 - $ 300,000), while a PNG engineer would be earning a measley sum between K 56,000 - K 150,00 ($ 20,000 - $ 75,000)
What is the justification in this difference in salaries I ask you?

Next in line are the politicians and landowner group executives who sign agreements for a fee.

Education and health services in the Southern Highlands remain in a very poor states. In real terms the People of Southern Highlands continue to live in poverty amongst poor health, education, infrastructure and government services. They are fed small piecemeal tokens every year to the Provincial government, and even that is misappropriated by governors, administrators and everyone down the line. Even PNG's socio-econimic indicators are plummeting to amongst the lowest in the globe.

So how on earth are these Southern highlanders, their Gulf and Western Province counterparts and the PNG people to benefit from the Massive LNG project??

And who stands to really gain from all these LNG money?, We should expect no less than the Oil Search Rubbish again.. lies lies and more lies for Southern Highlanders to sell their soul.

NAs claim of having peoples mandate a myth

THE over orchestrated myth by the National Alliance (NA) party that it had the mandate from the people of Papua New Guinea has been proven wrong by a number of factors including the rulings by a number of Court of Disputed Returns.

The decision of the Court of Disputed Returns on Aug 14, which declared the 2007 general election results for Kandep Open electorate null and void, is yet another proof of growing evidence that NA was not swept to power by an overwhelming majority. No one can say it was without electoral fraud, no vote rigging and other corruptive acts.

In no uncertain terms the court ruling proved beyond any reasonable doubt of massive fraud involved in the whole election process in Kandep.

NA should be the last to boast of the outcome and first to bury their heads in shame.

The peoples voice and choice is clear in the court findings that NA is the corrupt government in the almost 34 years of PNGs political independence.

Earlier Court of Disputed Returns rulings declaring null and void the elections of NA candidates Michael Laimo in South Bougainville and Sir Arnold Amet in Madang Provincial add to the list of NA election casualties. Members of other political parties in government should seriously ask themselves why they should continue supporting a Government whose leadership is heavily implicated in so many controversies.

The list is headed by PM Sir Michael Somares court actions to stop the Ombudsman Commission and the Public Prosecutor from performing their constitutionally mandated duties on allegations of the PM not completing or providing annual returns since 1992.

He was recommended for criminal prosecution by the PNG Defence Force Commission of inquiry for directing international fugitive and former SI Attorney General Julian Moti to be spirited out of Port Moresby to Solomon Islands in a clandestine operation on a PNG Defence Force aircraft.

Despite the compelling evidence of breach of the countrys laws, the PM failed to act.
Instead Sir Michael sought relief from the National Court to prevent publication of the Inquiry report.

Is the nation waiting to get rid of this corruption infested Government or will we wait and suffer?

THE Southern Highlands province has been exporting oil and gas for the past 20 years but there is nothing in the province to show for it, deputy Governor Pr Isaac Joseph said.
Speaking to a huge crowd at Nipa district last week, Pr Joseph, who is also Mendi MP, said peoples attitude was partly to blame.
While delivering a K1.5 million cheque for the construction of the Nipa district office, he said more services
would come if people changed their behaviour and attitude.
He said the K1.5 million was part of a K3.5 million committed by the provincial government under the leadership of Governor Anderson Agiru.
Mr Agiru also allocated a K500,000 cheque for Nipa Secondary School rehabilitation under the RESI programme.
The money was presented to local contractor Pesap Builders Ltd.
The district office would be built by Nationwide Construction Ltd.
The government is never broke, it will put money and build infrastructure where people are prepared to look after it, he said.
Pr Joseph said Nipa would become a town of its own as approved by the government under the LNG Benefits Sharing Agreement (BSA).
Provincial administrator William Pow said as Hela province moved away, the rest of Southern Highlands would have to find their own means of survival.
We are not going to have a big budget like we have now, so the onus is on the people to decide our destiny. He also urged them to turn to agriculture.

there is no one else to blame for the SHP people's coming demise but themselves for allowing their corrupt leaders to have their way with the province's revenus.
