Trying to locate information on James Sherman Sumner

I am trying to locate information on my grandfather James Sherman Sumner born 1867. He married Fannie Elizabeth Hinkle sometime around 1885, and they lived for many years on South Kentucky Street in Corbin, KY.
Hello Harold,
I left you a post at one of your other messages so I won't reiterate the same information. I have James Sherman Sumner married to Fannie Hinkle in my data base as well. I obtained the information I believe from one of the Hinkle sites at rootsweb, but I am not positive. I have no other information on him other than Fannie's sister, Permilia also married a Sumner who was Solomon F. Sumner born in 1864 the son of James B. & Olive Cox, Sumner, my GGG grandparents. Solomon was an uncle. And her other sister, Mary Elizabeth married my ggg grandfather, Mark Sumner's son, Joseph Hehoida Sumner born between 1843 and 1847.
I know that your James goes in the Sumner line somewhere, I just haven't figured out where. I can't fit him into the Sumner line.
In order for him to have been born in about 1865 James would have to have been a son of one of my uncles or cousins in the next generation of Sumner's.
Fannie was the daughter of James Hinkle & Delanna Davis who is also related to me on my Davis line.
This line of Davis is off of Jobe Davis line.
Thanks for responding to my inquiry about James Sherman Sumner. He was my grandfather, and My dad`s name was Albert Sumner.
I started out trying to trace my dad`s ancestry, and along the way I located my grandmother`s ancestry back to the 1700`s. Unfortunately, I could not locate a hisstory for Albert Sumner beyond his marriage to my mother Melvina (Mellie) Earls.
In the middle of all of this I got behind in my work, and had to give it up for awhile. I lobby the Kentucky General Assembly for a group of insurance companies, and will be busy until April 15. I hope to get back on the search soon after that date.
Thanks for the information you gave me. I know itwill help when I can get back on the trail.
MY NAME IS EARL SUMNER I AM THE SON OF JEROME SUMNER BORN IN 1920 HE WAS THE SON OF EARL BORN IN 1900 THE SON OF MARK SUMNER WHO WAS THE SON OF JOSEPH HEHOIDA SUMNER,THE SON OF MARK SUMNER,THE SON JAMES SUMNER AND MAHALA , I AM STUCK ON JAMES I CANT FIND ANY INFOR ON HIS FATHER -JAMES AND MAHALA ARE BURIED IN REDBIRD CEMT. Looking for Buchaan that married Chesley Duncan and had a child (William) in Whitley County Kentucky on April 5,1861. Would like to find out what happen to the baby and his mother. Any help appreciated.
Thanks
Pat
I am looking for Martha J Faulkner that married Chesley H Duncan in Campbell Co Tenn in mid 1800's. In the Vital Records for Whitley Co. I find the birth of Frances born Sept 17, 1856 to Chesley Duncan and Martha Faulkner. On Dec 10, 1858 is the birth for James born to this same couple. I find Chesley involved in other marriages, but no more record on Martha or the children. I would like to find out what happen to Martha and the children. I believe that they had an older daughter by the name of Malinda, what happened to her. Does anyone have any information at all on this family. All help appreciated.
Thanks
Pat
There was a Martha Faulkner married William Beams about the same dates. They married in Jellico Tenn and moved to Pope Co Ill. There was a Malinda listed in their children. I don't know if there is a connection but it's possible. Divorce?

Families of Anderson, Hamilton, Hill, Young, Monhollen
I have the census from 1810-1870 on these families only. I also have birth, death, and Marriage records for these families.
Under Henry Anderson and Rebecca you have a question mark by his son's name Calvin. This name is correct, his nickname was Coly and he was my great grandfather. Also on this same page under the Jonathan Mowery family you have his 10 year old daughter's name wrong. She married the Calvin Anderson above. Her name is Manila Mowery.

D.Perry
Samuel PERRY "Jr."(401) was born in Mar 1667 in Sandwich, Barnstable Co. MA.(402) He died on 8 Aug 1751 in Sandwich, Barnstable Co. MA. (403) Samuel Perry "Jr." was admitted townsman of Sandwich 8 Oct 1691. The designation Jr. was to distinguish from (? his cousin) Samuel{2} Perry (Edward{1}), who, though he lived in Kingston RI, had married in the previous year Mary Tucker of Sandwich.
The will of Samuel Perry of Sandwich, Yeoman, dated 2 Aug 1750, gives personal property to to his daughters Mary, Elizabeth, Deborah, and to the children of his daughter Mercy, deceased. All rest and residue to be divided between his two sons, Nathan and Ebenezer Perry, whom he made co-executors. Parents: Erza PERRY and Elizabeth Burgess.

i am researching any information on the family names of bunch, tye, monholland and huddleston. i am at a standstill with rebecca and lucinda huddleston, daughters of ben and sarah huddleston. also looking for info on willis d. tye, son of john s. tye. he was married to lucinda. have been told that lucinda's last married name may have been petrey. rebecca was married to john f. bunch.
What info do you have on the Monholland/Monhollen side. I am looking for a James Monhollen b/abt. 1869 who married a Lela Russell b/ 7/1897. Her parents were Hugh Russell b/5/1868 TN and Maggie b/4/1871 TN (according to the 1900 Whitley co census. The info I need is James Monhollen's parents. They could possibly be James Monhollen and Elizabeth Young, but I am not for sure. You see I have been looking under Holland, but the surname Monhollen came into it. Any info you have would be helpful.
Sorry Tonya but he is not the son of James Monhollen and Elizabeth Young. These are their children:
Sarah Jane b. 1865
Speed b Jan. 22, 1868
Margaret b. 1874
Rebecca b. April 4, 1875
Benjamin b. April 10, 1876
Vicey Alice b. 1878
Helen P. b. June 1884
Harriet E. b. Feb. 1889
Lida b. March 1893
I wish I could help you but I can't except to say that I know someone else looking for the same man and his family and she is also looking under Holland. The Monhollen's were mistakenly entered in records as Monholland, Holland, and other mispellings constantly. I wish you luck with your search.
Maybe I can help on Willis Tye. I have his name as D. Willis Tye, son of John Siler Tye and Susan Jones. Married to Lucinda Huddleston (no other info), 5 children. If you need other info about him, let me know. My brother and I have been researching the Tye's for some time (my mothers side). Don't know what you need, so let me know.

This much I found by going to my papers.

Sonja, I believe the family listed on page 178A as Boosfield, J.L. to really be Brassfield. I think this is my great great great grandfather, John Lindsay Brassfield. The names and ages of his daughters match up, and I think the son listed as "Edison, 8" would actually be Addison, and his age matches up as well. Addison would have been my great great grandfather Ambrose Addison Brassfield. Addison died at a young age sometime in the 1890's just after my great grandfather was born. Probably in or around Whitley Co. Is there anyway to research obits or a death index to try to find out how he died? Thanks, Chris Brassfield
Chris
I agree I think it's also Brassfield. I descend
from Ancil Brassfield, son of J.l. Brassfield.
I have the following children for John L.
Thermane, Soloman, Granville, Emily, Permely,
Ancil A. Alon L. Ameldia, John, Delany, Susan.
Is this what you have?? I can be reached at

I want to thank everyone that has posted corrections and comments on this forum, and even their family lines they are researching. I am glad that the 1880 transcriptions have been so helpful to the Whitley County Researchers.
I will try to get the corrections added in to the pages some time next week.
I haven't told you lately how much I appreciate you.
Please keep it in mind that I always think you do a great job on anything you do. Sonja, you are a angle on this earth.
There is so many I am leaving out right now because I depend on you and I know you are there to do what needs to be done. I also know you are capable to do what is right and you will.I need all of the ones who are with me like this to just keep everything together at this moment. We will finish this quest.
On page 229b I find a Neal Anderson and wonder if the M.M. age 3 daughter could be Maggie. Looking for any family members of this family that might be of help.
She would be [if her] my great grandmother. I would like to have more info on her son and all the family, for my family tree. I would be glad to share any info I have of her ancestors.
