The final season is upon us, and teams with limited success have their slates cleared. For the first time in a lot of years, I see the championship as wide open for anyone.
Wellesley players say they are built for the playoffs. This is usually the final respit of the desperate. Good teams win all the time, not just when playoffs come. If the second and third line take nights off, I see them 2nd rounders at best.
Tavi has seen success all year. They are hard working and may think they deserve to see the finals. The thing is, have they read too much into how good they think they are?
Ayr often has good players and questionable coaching. Has this changed? I wonder if Mossy and crew can jump start a team that has seen more bombs this year than Afganistan?
Langton is well....Langton. I am impressed with their play of late, but it appears they are playing beyond their ability. A good place to be going into the playoffs, but not likely sustainable.
Delhi seems to have finally brought a team to the league this year. Not only physcially (read they took last year off), but talented as well. Do they have enough to seal their fate for the next few years with a run for the cup? I wouldn't be betting on it.
St. George is the dog here. This team has taken over as the lowest and most classless club of the league bar none. It is really too bad, because back in the first few years, they played hard for an "expansion" club. Now...they are just hard to watch.
Burford. Simply stated...WHAT HAPPENED?
Hagersville...Now this is the sleeper club. Well run by veteran JR D. people, who give a lot of time and energy to this club. They are a class organization and contrary to St. George have grown to be one of the best organizations around. They still whine occassionaly but then again...who doesn't. A late season rally seems to have bouyed their chances, but can they keep the pace....haven't yet while in the league....who knows? This team is my bet to win it, but I am a lousy gambler.
