There are so many lists out there claiming IMG Friendly Hospitals. Use them with your judgement. You need to find out two things before you can use them -
a. How old is the list? Since programs often change their policy drastically based on their experience with IMGs, make sure that you have most updated information; There are a few lists out there are as old as five years.
b. What specialty is that for? Different specialities in the same hospital can have very different attitudes towards the International Medical Gradautes. Make sure that you have the information for your specialty.
There is a reputable site www.IMGexperts.com which offers IMGs annually updated residency program information for the past four years. I highly recommended it. It gives you yearly updated information which can help you make intelligent decisions, and saves you tons of time.

I'm an IMG from Portugal and I've already taken the step1 (had 77) and now i'm about to take the step2, but i'm worried about my chances in getting a residency in OB/GYN because I've never been to any american hospital and I really don't know how things work.

I think that you will not make it in time for the 2005 matching, if you have your step 2 results, maybe you have a chance. Deadline for submission of application of residency programs is usally in December. You can just settle for the post match or the scramble. Good Luck
You can get a observeship in any place, as long as they accept you. You just need to contact people where you wanna go. If you already know someone, it is easier.
There are quite a number of hospitals that offer externship in the US. You can try calling hospitals and I am certain you will get one even with your mbbs .

After finishing step1 and 2 and CSA, should I study for step 3, or do an observership, or do research? Becasue it looks like I won't get anything for the match. So, I want to improve my application. I have a 78 on step 1 after failing 3 times. I am awaiting results for step 2.
I am a firm believer that all IMG's must stick together! We have enough against us already when applying for residency so lets try to make it easier on others. Here is a list for 2003. I was able to attain through various message boards and good old fashioned research! Please dont be greedy and start trying to charge people money for a list! Use this list at your own risk!!!!! I was able to get several interviews even as an IMG and my USMLE scores arent spectacular and yes I even failed Step 1 the first time! So what all that stuff is just to get you in the door.............after that it is all up to your interview skils and personality!!!!!!!!!!!! TRUST ME!!!!!!!!! One helpful hint...........if your application isnt all that strong, I recommend doing an externship in your first chpice hospital is they offer it! You are almost assured an interview and if you make a good impression then the money spent was all worth it! Take care and hope this helps!

Sorry Guys! but I would not believe the above information. Its absolutely incorrect. The list displayed above is an ovvvvvvvvvvvver-exageration of facts.
I hate to admit this but I paid $50 from a website and they gave me basically the same list! I cant speak for all the hospitals in every state but to make sure I called the programs and asked a simple question "How many IMG residents are currently in your program! That will pretty much answer your question! ALl hospitals have to say that they accept IMG's cause if they didnt I guess that would be discrimination! But for the most part I used my list as a guide and then took the extra step! Do the same!
