Another year and yet another re-build. Today I present to Fiat Boo one of or the fastest Bravo in the UK. Let me get straight to the point. It made 347BHP 317WBHP and 339FT/LB @ 1.8Bar. I have maxxed out the fuel injectors as the engine runs lean at 6000rpm so the redline is now set at 6000rpm. I need to get some 430cc injectors and I should see 360BHP and be able to rev to my usual 7500rpm. Next all this power is without running the water injection system as there is no point yet as the injectors are maxxed out so with this switched on I may be about to break the 400 barrier. I intend to sort this out within the next month or so so keep your eyes peeled.
I planned in running at TOTB7 but will not be able to this year so maybe next time.
Thanks guys, but without boo this car wouldn’t not exist. As at the time it was down to the constant mocking from certain people saying that a 20VT couldn’t be done etc as to why I built it in the first place (Some of you older members may remember). When somebody tells me I can’t do something I love to prove them wrong. I was one of or the first in the UK to successfully do the conversion and 4 years later its still here. Now 20VTs are popping up all the time. This car represents that Bravos can be made extremely quick and proves that Fiat should have made this car with the 20VT in the first place.
So far every year I have rebuilt the engine with yet more and more power. First year was the standard 220BHP then 260BHP then 307BHP and now 347BHP (360BHP) when the fuel is fixed.
Traction is not as bad as you guys would think I have many suspension mods with LSD just waiting for the race logic traction control. It does break traction in fourth but that is most of the fun I love a good fight with the steering wheel.
2.5L with 4WD 500BHP+ maybe on the cards a few years from now but no real plans yet just have to wait and see
I would love to show you guys the car in person so if there are any meets around the London area just let me know.
Man, if that thing was 4WD can you imagine what it could do?
It looks awesome based on the current spec and figures, plus i've had a good look at all your WIP pics etc. Excellent stuff...

Once I sort out the fuelling and water injection I will put some times down at the pod. I don’t wanna melt all of my hard work now. I should hit a low 12 with the right conditions and tyres.
Anything nearer than Gaydon?

you need a nice holiday to italy, buy a dedra integrale and drive home with it to make yours 4wd!
i have onyl ever seen one 4x4 bravo on spanish ebay or italian i cant remember! but it was definately dedra integrale runnign gear
Yes but that one is a 16VT not a 20VT. If i was gonna make the car 4WD I would buy a custom gearbox etc...

from an email when i was chatting about it with someone in feb 2005

'Fiats are faster than you fink' - nice line, that - shame your next 'victim' would'nt be able to read it, lol
I don't know of anyone who's said that Fiat makes slow cars, (least not in the UK, where Fiat rarely used to import the smallest-engined versions of their cars)
Very nice build by the way. Glad to see you wer'nt tempted to bodykit it to death

Nice work J
better keep at it else you might find a certain Marea passing you
As soon as the engine is 100% finished. The bodywork is next on the hit list.
I will keep it 100% standard no kits no addons etc.. It is going to be fully re-sprayed in the same colour but with a tiny hint of pearl. All the dents, starches, stone chips will be gone. The underseals are being redone and I need a new bonnet. The car will look mint when completed. The company is here:
Ok very very hot day 31 degrees ambient and still managed to get some decent results
376 BHP with 350 FT/LB @ 1.56Bar (dont know why 1.7Bar was written on the graph)
313.6 BHP with 290 ft/lb @ Wheels
Graphs Power/Torque Flywheel:
Power/Torque Wheels:
Boost vs AFR:
This dyno is very conservative but I will take it up to PT just to see any difference within dynos since my last four dynos have been there. Anyhow I am very happy with the results and it really does pull on the road. I was getting air temps at 72degrees all day and it werent knocking. Theoretically every 5degees will give 1% power so on a colder day where intakes are a more sensible 35degress I should see over 400BHP not to mention how hot the fuel was. It was so hot the exhaust melted the handbrake cable shut. It will need a little tweeking in the colder months as I should be able to run more boost like 1.8Bar and a bit more advance. Im not quite 400BHP on paper but Im sure I can break this barrier soon not bad for a GT2871R @ 0.64 ey
My new task is to get a 12.5 1/4 time. Last practice saw me a 13.4 which is far to slow for my spec. I need to make some tweeks but I will get there.

Hi J
Thats one amazing Bravo everything is done to such a high standard. I found your webpage through google some time ago and ive looked very closely at every image.
The pictures realy helped me figure out some things when I was rebuilding my little 1.4 engine.
Very reliable. Even for a Fiat. Any more power would just be a waste as it wont lay it down plus Im on the border line of breaking gearboxes. The standalone ECU is mapped really well and I have been tweaking the map as I drive to make it smoother and smoother. I can start my car from cold wait 3mins to get out of cold start open loop then drive like normal all day without a harsh ride.
I saw this bravo back in 2005 and ive kept a keen eye on it ever since.
Ive also been on the coupe forum for the last few years too, so read alot of your cough discussions cough too.
Fantastic work jay, i think you actually setting a high standard for the 20vt conversion (cause there are some rather bad and partial projects popping up on ebay from time to time).
I hope to see a 4x4 conversion from you, cause there have been a couple of very interesting coupe 4x4's appearing lately , and being able to get all that power down would be simply awesome :D
Yes that dent has been there for years. When I got back from holiday someone did a hit and run. With the engine and interior now finished I can concentrate on the bodywork.
Just a quick update. For those interested in my build I cannot update my website so I have a project thread in the coupe forum which will be kept upto date.
