MY POOR RAT2.... THINK IT WILL BE BROKEN :-(

Well, just taken a deposit for the sale (sold for £1000 gulp) and the key packed up so i had to jack the car up and take the alarm out to get into it.

i unlocked the door with the key and only one lock popped up! DOH! battery was flat DOUBLE DOH! got the AA out they put a booster pack on and it started straight away, brilliant i thought. so i left it running whilst i was washing dads car, then i went indoors and just as i was about to sit down, the front door sounded like it was getting smashed in so i run out to the door to see my neighbour shouting " YOUR CAR IS ON FIRE COME QUICK" So i crapped my pants and ran outside to fined plumes of steam coming from under the bonnet.

Turned the engine off and popped the bonnet and gently started to release the header tank cap with a very thick rag round it.... took 25 minutes to de-pressurise... so after i saw all the water and antifreeze all over the floor i started to worry... left it to cool down and then tipped up with water a whole 2 litres..GULP. turned the key and it started first time no funny noises and ran nicely up to tempreture. no water in the oil or vice versa. the only thing is the engine managment light is on! the thing that has really annoyed me is that i have had so many niggly problems with this car in the 6 months of owning it but i am worried there is damage to the engine but to get it checked on a diagnostic machine is gonna cost me and i will have to tax it to get there so all in all it is gonna cost me far to much to and then sell at a loss i might aswell brake it or thats how i feel at the moment.

if i do decide to brake it is there any call for parts from a 44,000 miles car that is just 6 years old?

Even though I now have a weekend jtd, I still really miss my HGT, she was sooo lovely.....

Damn, sorry to hear its not gone according to plan Robin.

I've been thinking what I could do with from Rat 2, but think I'm pretty much covered at the moment.

You know how much I want your wheels....
but I can't afford them.......
take them away from my view Robin......

put the 20vt in, if you can afford to anyway.
Get a runaround (people carrier) and have the 20vt as a project
You know you want to!!
