Gearbox / Clutch Problem

I have the following problem:-

Recently it is very hard for me to change gear. You really have to force the lever in to each gear.

Also, I can no longer engage reverse when the engine is running. If I need to reverse then I have to turn the engine off, select reverse then put my foot on the clutch and start the engine up with reverse already selected.

Incidentally, when the engine is off and the car is stationary each and every gear can be selected with no problems at all.

My UNprofessional diagnosis is that the problem lies with the clutch rather than the gearbox itself, or is this just wishful thinking!

Sounds like slave cylinder to me.

Get to about 2mph and go into 5th. Put your foot down. If the revs jump up but the car only gradually builds speed then thats your clutch.

Its possible that you have a small gap in your cylinder that is letting air into it. Slave cylinder will be your cheapest option then ensure you bleed the fluid through correctly making sure every air bubble is gone.

yer as wimmy said, you want to cheak for fluid on your box or around the slave. If it has a slight crack it will be leaking..
When i checked mine it was all on the box and the rubber on the slave itself was seaked lol

Bought a B/N one for £25 inc vat from local motor factor..
