Hello, I wonder if you can help me,
I drive and R Reg Bravo with the 1.4 12v engine in it.
The car has done around 62000 miles, with good to reasonable service history.
Since buying the car 4 months ago, ive come across a few problems.
1.) the front exhaust downpipe, cracked in half near to the Hego Sensor, ive got a replacement pipe but im struggling to locate a gasket for the downpipe to manifold joint.
Is there a gasket fitted to these as there isnt one on the car.?
Or do u have a solution to this as the exhaust blows at that joint, is it a exhaust sealing paste job or do u have a better way of doing it?
2.) The engine runs as if it has a misfire, the plugs and leads have been changed and seem to fire correctly when resting on top of the engine.
As i havent had much experience of these 12v engines, is it common for the engine to have a judder or am i looking at problems?
3.) Yesterday i travelled just under 300 miles through wales, the vehicle was superb, keeping up with traffic and good acceleration, but since coming off the motorway, it has really struggled to pull away from standstill.
in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gears it is as if the revs are being limited then in fourth and fifth no problems.
Coming to a standstill, the engine stalls.
If you can help with any or all of the above problems, i will be most grateful

Goto Fiat, part number 46468670 - SEAL GASKET. Costs approx £20. This is the seal between manifold and front exhaust section.

Is this clutch judder or a misfire??? The exhaust leak can cause the above. First replace the seal and prevent the exhaust leak.

When was the last time the car was serviced? Do you have any troubles starting from hot or cold? This can be caused by all sorts, some fixes are replacing the thermostat and temp sensor, some replaced crank sensors etc. Depends on your symptoms really and are the faults there all the time?

Thanx for the part no for the gasket.
its definitely like a misfire,
as regards to the service, i have changed oil and filter, checked air filter looked new, changed plugs and leads, about to change fuel filter.
Parts fitted to it are E.c.t Engine coolant temp sensor , prior to me buying it had a crank sensor, the reason i no this was because the old one was still attached to the new one.
