Have been speccing out a car to replace the company Toymotor and here we go: -
Grande Punto 3DR 1.6MJET Sporting Ambient White 17" Two tone alloy wheels High Side strip chequered end in black Dark tinted windows Side rubbing strips Subwoofer
List price £15,025 OTR
Have got 2 quotes from these online "get best price from a dealer" sites and have been quoted an OTR price of £11,500!!
Unfortunately, (and the irony here is that the brochure arrived today) I've been put on 30 days notice of redundancy this morning.
Fairly chipper about it all but the new car is out of the question. Thanks for all of the suggestions guys.
Still, look at it this way; I'll get to drive Shabash! a lot more now.

damn I was just about to bug you for a job too...
Bad luck mate, things are a bit rough out there at the moment, but I'm sure your consistant employment and seniority will help you find another soon.
(I went for an interview today and the bleeding interviewer failed to turn up...)

Thanks guys. I'm sure something will turn up and it's early days.
Tommy - that's very generous of you. I could certainly do with the £5k it would cost you to get her off me.

sorry to hear about the job mate, tis a pain in the arse, but as Justin said, your service for them etc will only benefit come the next job!
kinda wish I had been made redundant atm, im stuck in ****ing Leeds for the second week in a row!
Well she'll be out for a wash tomorrow if the weather is ok as the Toymota is getting returned on Friday so I can: -
1. Get my tax code sorted in case the worst should happen and
2. It will remove one small issue for any potential line manager within Tesco as a company car adds iro £15k to their cost centre each year.
Also got agreement that I can work from our Letchworth offices for the remainder of my consultation period which means I can car share with my mate who works there. It's also 20 miles less per day to travel if I take the old girl out and an extra 45 mins in bed (yes, it does make that much differance, bloody A1).
Come on Shabash! Out you come, Daddy needs you.

Things have moved on quite quickly and I'm up for a couple of opportunities within Tesco.
Taking my IT aptitude test today which is the first stage of their recruitment process. If successful leads to an assessment centre next Friday. Have also been asked to apply for a role within our seasonal forecasting team which sounds right up my street and they seem very keen.
Also got a back-up plan for if I need to take the redundancy as I'm not going to take just anything to stay with Tesco. If the job appeals I'll take it but if not, mortgage is paid and can fund my back-up plans easily.
So, wish me luck!

So thats why you've bought a laptop..... you have a week to find the on button!!!!
Well your one of the lucky ones who can get redundancy..... but equally one of the clever ones who had mortgage payment protection!!!
I took a 50% pay cut to keep my old job but a month later was still let go BUT it gave me the extra month I needed to get my Mortgage payment protection!!
Just don't do like me and take a job you don't like cos you then don't get your free money when you decide it's not for you!
I do wish you all the best... you need to keep earning money to spoil Shabash!!!
Nope, no payment protection insurance but will be able to pay off the mortgage. As I'm old I've had time to accrue savings and shares which when added to a 14 year redundancy payout will see me ok for a while.
A week to find the on button? Lol! Nutter.

Well it's the last day of my consultation period tomorrow and "computer says no" for the IT role unfortunately.
Have completed the interview process for the other role and we are in the final stages so fingers crossed.

Lol! Forgot all about that. Won't be soon as this weekend is Dads 70th do, next weekend is MITCar and after that I'm on me hollybobs for 2 weeks and fully intend to go somewhere hot.
All that and needing to find a new car in the meantime. Busy, busy boy. We'll sort something out though I'm sure.
