overheating???

hi all. my car temp gauge in the dash, goes up to the hot bit.

the bit i dont understand is that their isnt any steam coming out of the bonnet. and their isnt a smell of the overheating.

also when im accelerating, over 4,000 revs the car sometimes jumps. but once i change gear it goes til the next 4,000 rev

any help would be ideal happy.gif

mine does this now and again, with no signs of overheating under the bonnet. at first i panicked a bit,until i found out that i wasnt overheating. now every time the gauge goes up, i just smack the dashboard above the dails, and as if by magic(or just force!!!) the gauge goes back to normal.easy as that!!!!!!!

Had this before years ago after mines was involved in a little bump and the garage didnt refit the connection too the fan,its only time i had any bother and its easy too get too for you too check.

i would try a new thermostat,sounds like its not opening properly.OR try bleeding your system see if you have any air in it.

the fan turns on fine.
i will look at the thermo fingy. how much is a new one.

and new ideas on the jumping prob? x

could this be a sender unit problem of temp gauge fault? ive had this with anouther car and it was a sender unit problem. would be worth a try

Its the connection inside the instrument panel. Sven did a repair gude for this known fault. It happens across the range and is a pig to get to.

fank u for the last comment, i will look at the guide and have go. im finking i might sell her tho, once my insurance ends, get the 2nd yr NCB.
